WEEK 56 RANDOM NUMBER WAS 61

Alternate number  6 + 1 =7

Fing’rs Heat to Art “Map It Out” Nail Art

20140126_180841

Considering there are three options in every package, it leaves you with a tons of options on how to do your nails… I gotta say I was instantly drawn to a particular one… it reminds me of the Chicago el’ system… so El collageit seemed appropriate that I use it. I’m all for a being a budget fashionista and changing up my look every now and then and since this is nail art with no fuss and no mess is an extra point in my book. So I started with two even coats of Sinful Colors White on White; in all fairness you can use whatever color that you like or none at all if you into a minimalistic look

Now each tattoo sheet is a good size sheet and I was able to do 8 nails with one sheet. Each design has 11 sheets (33 total), so when you think about the $4.99  retail value (at Wal-Mart) it’s a really good bargain!

These were super easy to use and the entire process of placing the tats took less than five minutes. The directions are as follows:

directions

These are exactly like the tattoo’s I used to wear on my arm as a little kid. I will say that there was some slippage on the thumb, as you can clearly see on the picture, but overall all for my first try I 20140126_182137thin that I did a fantastic job and I’m really happy with the look of my nails. And I’m know that overall all this review is a lot shorter than one that would feature nail polish… but I honestly don’t have anything to bitch about there was no streaks, the brush wasn’t funky… the polish totally looked great with my skin. The one thing that I haven’t tested out was ease of removal, but I’m thinking because the tattoos are so thin that a good polish remover would be able to remove it no problem…. the kit did say not to use acetone polish (and I’m not about to use it to figure out why that is)… what can I say this one get’s an 11 out of 10. Yep you read this right… this got bonus points for ease of use, value and overall experience.

When I purchased this kit I also got the comic book one, and I can’t wait to us that one as well, but there is no point reviewing that one since I think the experience will be the same if not better, I will be venturing outside soon, as soon as Chicago get’s over the Polar Vortex part Deux  to purchase a few bottles of polish…. but for anyone who is looking to add a little extra to their polish I would defiantly recommend these.

If anyone has had experience using these let me know… I would love to hear from you

Until next time,

Nail Polish Lottery Club–Week 53, 54 and 55

WEEK 53 RANDOM NUMBER WAS 354

Alternate number  3 +5 + 4 = 12

Essie’s Decedent Dish

Collage111

I know this is a week late, but I was busy mourning the loss of  4 nails… who breaks 4 nails in  2 days?…. This chick does. In all fairness I think it hard something to do with the nail hardener I was wear and the polar vortex I was out in *sad face* And this is gonna be several weeks in once, things have been busy with having to prepare for births, sitting in on classes and dealing with the uber cold weather.

20131230_220544

One thing that really bothered me about this polish is that the iridescence found in the bottle was nowhere to be found on my fingers.  No matter how I tried to photograph it, it simply wouldn’t work. Overall it was a good solid color… Despite that I really loved the way this color looked on my nails, and when has anyone really had major issues with Essie… this get’s an 8 out of 10.

WEEK 54 RANDOM NUMBER WAS 354

Alternate number  35 + 4 = 39

Julep’s Zelda

zelda1_thumb2

For any one taking notice, this is the exact same number as last week. I love the look of the polish, but it didn’t really look that great on me. I think it had to do with the pink undertones. Julep seems to be really consistent with their polishes and there is nothing that I can say any different about this polish that I haven’t written before about other Julep polishes.  This polish did have a consistent shine throughout the week. This polish get’s a 6 out of 10.20140117_223230

THIS RANDOM NUMBER WAS 283

Alternate number  2+8 + 3 = 13

nikak

Nicka K New York’s Ripe Apple

This is as another goodie that I got from Ipsy, and this polish was issue right from the start. Although I was quite taken with the lovely shape of the bottle, the shape makes it really difficult to open the bottle sue to the really narrow handle… said narrow handle also makes it uber tricky to get a good grip to apply the polish. Ever since I got the polish I was really excited to try it on my nails… but before I put the color on my nails 20140121_205813I had to do a little repair on the brush since it as a little wonky….eek!!! I put a coat on my nails and the next day when I went to add a second layer the brush was exactly like it was the first time, so I had to cut the brush a second time.

The color was fantastic! A deep red that had a lot of shine. And with a good topcoat this polish lasted all week with minimal wear on some of my tips, and I was pretty upset about taking it off, but it as a new week, which means a new polish…. This one despite the issues that I had get’s a 8 out of 10, it would have gotten a solid 10 if there weren’t any brush issues…. 20140122_123852

Next week we will get back to our normal nail polish schedule… the next few weeks should be interesting considering I am starting to run out of polishes….. I might have to make some creative decisions…

Quick and Easy Questions

1.  What time did you go to bed last night? Close to 1:30am or so

2.  What is the last thing that made you smile?  Last nights episode of Sherlock….

3.  What is the last movie you watched?  Safe Haven… and no I don’t want to talk about it… I still haven’t recovered… damn you Nicholas Sparks!

4. What did you have for breakfast today?  I slept through breakfast this morning, which is usual for me, but since I’m feeling a bit off

5. Would you rather mop all of your floors or do laundry?  Really? I’d rather mop the floors at least I can count that as aerobic activity. Here’s the deal with laundry I don’t mind doing the washing and drying.. my real issue is folding and putting it away. I generally leave my clothes in a basket folded and take them out as needed.

6. Do you drink coffee?  I had coffee yesterday and the day before, and honestly that’s the first time that I’ve had a coffee drink since July. I enjoy coffee type drinks , heck I have a gold Starbucks card. But I have really cut down because of the empty calories in the yummy, frothy coffee drinks  and it’s too cold here in Chicago for the cold drinks..

7.  Will you watch the Superbowl?  No, but I do have a Super bowl Sunday tradition, I go to my parents house… my stepdad goes somewhere to watch the game and my mom and I watch the Puppy Bowl, all while discussing how cute the animals are, then we watch an equally cute marathon until we overdose on cuteness… last year I think we watched like 12 episodes of two cute back –to – back (If you’re ever having a really crappy day I suggest watching this show… instant smile)

8. How often do you shop for groceries? Two times a month, not counting those times when I desperately need something                                     imagesfitbug

9.  What kind of workout will you do today?  My normal routine is the 30 minute circuit then 1 hour of aerobic activity at the gym then later in the day I do 30 minutes of stretching using my SWorkit app. But today I’m counting this as a rest day, I’m exhausted and my entire body hurts
10.  Do  you use a fitness tracker?  So weird that this question popped up. Because I have been looking to get one. At first I was gonna get the FitBug because it was a bit cheaper and it was small and compact and had all the features that I wanted for all under 50 bucks, then I realized that there was no Amazon app for it, and the Android app wasn’t compatible with my particular Galaxy model, and it wouldn’t allow me to look at the actual website to determine “usability” without actually purchasing the darn thing so I scratched that. I decided to spend 10 bucks more and get the Fitbug, it works on all my devices and everyone that has one has positive things to say about it… so I’ll be ordering that in the next week. I’m excited to get my hands on it!’

Hopefully your week has started off better than mine, until next time!

Friend Makin’ Mondays: Taboo Topics

I’m not sure about where you are but we are finally thawing out from the “Polar Vertex”…syfy movie coming soon! And since we are on an upswing with the weather; it’s currently 48 degrees right now (but Chicago is expecting snow this evening) I’m trying to enjoy as much “real” and sunlight as possible…..

Taboo Topics

1. Are you a registered voter?  Definitely. Have you ever heard the saying, “If you don’t vote, you don’t have the right to complain”… well I belive that. I take voting very seriously since in the not so distant past a black woman wouldn’t have had the oppurtunity to vote.

2. Do you believe in GOD?  Yes

3. How has your readership changed since you first began blogging?  I have gained a some readers, but I think they follow to be nice, this blog really is a vanity blog… but I REALLY appreciate the followers that I have!

4.  If you could choose between a serious relationship or $100,000, which would you choose?  I would choose the money. Even though I’ve been in the same relationship for a little over 20 years… I would defiantly choose the money… heck I know he would too

5. Have you ever changed political parties?  No, my views have involved and I would consider myself “middle of the road” with a slight leaning to one side…

6. If you were put in a position in which you had to be in a room with someone that you can’t stand, how would you handle the situation? I’ve been in that situation a few times before, and to be honest it’s gonna be awkward. I will walk up to that person and say hello’ especially when there are people around them that I am talking to, but generally I freeze them out and pretend like they don’t exist. For me there is a difference between being cordial and respectful to someone I don’t particularly care for; and completely ignoring someone because if I don’t I might cause a scene.

7.  Do you ever eat in secret because you don’t want anyone to see what you consume?  No, why would I? What I eat and how much I consume is no one’s business. Besides I’m pretty open about my diet.

8.  Do you use curse words in your daily conversations?  Yes, and it’s one of my pet peeves. I am really working on cleaning up my language, but in all fairness there are times (when I feel) it’s warranted.

9.  How much do you tip when you’ve had decent service at a restaurant?  It really depends on the service and the type of restaurant. My younger brother is a server and I know how hard they tip so I always leave something for them. Another pet peeve is when people don’t leave a tip…what is that all about?

10.  How do you respond when someone confronts you?  It depends on the person, but I have really learned on not holding things in. If you do something that bothers me I might let it slide… but if you continuously do something, and it’s hurtful or disrespectful I will give you the business. I won’t get loud… unless you get loud with me… I will give as good as I get.

That was a lot less painless that I thought it was gonna be

I Can’t Believe We Are Still Talking About This : The Gabourey Sidibe Edition

ku-xlargeEvery single time she makes an appearance or hits the red carpet people are talking about her weight. She’s a big girl… plus size diva… what ever you call it she’s fat. I know it, you know it, she knows it. So why is it  that’s all we talk about? Oh yeah we complement her acting abilities, her quick and snarky with… but then we also mention she’s fat. I’ve seen her on a few interviews and people seem to always ask, “Are you gonna lose weight?” And she always says no. Why should she? … Now let’s pull back the curtain for a minute. This many seem odd for me to say this considering this blog started off as a way for me to stay accountable with my weight loss’ and although it has branched out to other things, my point remains the same. Everyone has to choose when it’s the right time for them to make a change and lose weight? My reason is not more or less important that anyone else’s reason for losing weight. Some people don’t have that desire and never will, and as long as they are happy …. then I respect that.

Now back to Miss Gaby..she wore a lovely gold, iridescent dress she looked lovely, her hair was lovely. I bet she felt pretty; and that’s exactly what pretty dresses are supposed to do. Now I don’t subscribe to the thinking that just because you’re a certain size doesn’t mean you can’t wear something… if you buy it, love it, and it makes you feel good; then by all means wear it. If you want to have naked Sundays at your house .. DO IT!

Like seriously was this necessary?

148211_600

The problem that I have is not that people tend to criticize her for her weight… it’s your opinion, you are entitled to it (even if it’s wrong) but the fact that people feel like she should have to apologize for her size… which is defiantly wrong; like it’s a short coming, yet she continues to prove everyone wrong despite what people think, this  talented woman has numerous nominations and awards behind her belt…anyone out there talking smack got an Academy Award nomination?…bet Mr. Ocean don’t

Now to be fair she isn’t the only actress who recently has gotten slack Melissa McCarthy has been the target of cruelty as well, so what’s the point where people decide to simply shut the hell up… do you have to reach a certain echelon of acting?

The point of this little blog entry is simple, she’s not taking any of your shit and frankly she doesn’t have to. She doesn’t need to change America…. YOU DO!
