What I Ate Wednesday: I Had a Few Indulgences

So clearly this is not an original thought WIAW was originated from Peas and Crayons  and a lot of other bloggers have started doing it as well; and since I can’t be original and I really like the idea of doing this… I decided to give it whirl as well. This will pretty much be a mish-mash of stuff,  some days I will try a new technique or perhaps I’ll be eating something for the first time as is the case today… and someday it might be leftover chili…who knows, and I guess that’s part of the fun. When I first started blogging it was to remain accountable with my exercise and food intake, so this is kind of takes me back… Very little of this is planned… but it’s 100% honest…I always want WIAW to be an accurate account of what I am eating. Not everyday I eat completely healthy, but more often than not I make healthy choices.

As always my Weight Watchers Points into the fold.

I knew that today was going to be a busy day so I got all my favorites together and made a scramble” filled with protein from the egg whites and the lean ham. Every thing was measured before it was cooked and I was surprised by how much there was. The point was to fill up on breakfast and so that I wouldn’t over indulge since I knew that I was going out for lunch. 3 Smart Points and all that food, Seriously I think I did pretty good..

CollagelunchSee the thing is I have a problem, a serious problem and it’s called macaroni and cheese, and I have said this many times, to many people but I don’t think there is a such thing as bad macaroni… it doesn’t exist, and so I eat it despite the fact that I know it’s going to be a crap ton of points (which is why I don’t eat it that often, but when I do I enjoy it…. And since I knew a lot of my points were going to be devoted to the Mac and Cheese I pilled on the veggies, and had a 0 point salad, and since I didn’t want to add a lot of points with the dressing I added about 1/4 cup of cottage cheese. Then I saw they had collard greens too…. those weren’t so great but I ate them anyway. Plus there was a diet coke thrown in there for shits and giggles.. Total Damage: 11 Smart Points.

I was supposed to be done with food for the day… but someone went out and go chicken, then I decided that I wanted a sundae….. this didn’t end well, but in all honesty I was hungry…. and I guess if I needed to I go delve into those “Anytime Points” And as you can tell these are stock photos…. well that’s because I totally forgot to take pictures, I was busy feeding my face. Damage: 24 Smart Points (and totally not worth it)

So totally Points consumed today: 38. Which means I deducted 4 points from my Anytime Points “bank”

I think the only thing that saved me today was that I was fairly active, I did a lot of walking over 10,000 steps, and I spent a lot of time that morning cleaning my house, laundry, mopping,sweeping… hell I did it all…. but my general coloric intake these days are around 13,000 calories, so overall I didn’t do too bad, and this is not a typical day for me food wise, so indulging once in a while is okay.

Tyra Takes On Weight Watchers: Ugh, What The Heck?

So last week I finally made Lifetime status, which was expected…. I also gain weight, and that was expected as well.. but what I didn’t expect was the nearly 5 pound weight gain…. ugh, what the heck? In all fairness sugar was my best friend that week and I didn’t work out… but 5 pounds!!! I was on my period and I’m pretty sure I didn’t take a water pill that day…. but I guess this is where I should say I really see the how the physical aspect of weight loss works….the week after I made lifetime I didn’t weigh in.. they say once a month is the least you can do and frankly I think that’s better for my psyche.

Last week I decided that I was going to do some meal planning, what started out as making salads for lunch turned into an entire week of lunches and dinners, breakfast I had to make the day of…. S20160116_171728o last20160116_175239 week I had salad with shrimp, salad with chicken and salad with tuna, chili and turkey sausage with collard greens from lunch (the last two were left overs) For dinner I had shrimp, quinoa and mixed veggies for dinner (for 3 days), oxtail soup (leftovers) and Friday I had dinner with my parents which was awesome Jamaican food (I had Jerk catfish, cabbage and peas and rice…yum!!).

So I made quinoa for the first time last week. I always wanted to try it…. but was a little freaked about cooking it… thank goodness you can make it in the rice cooker. I used a little chicken broth and it was REALLY good, and cooked to perfection. and it was really good with the shrimp and veggies, and it was pretty low in Points .

This week the meal planning is gonna have to be put on whole, I’m dealing with some major GERD issues, and at this point drinking water gives me serious heartburn. So I’m trying to avoid the foods that trigger reflux… and I’m pretty much gonna be eating bland, so that’s gonna take a little bit more time for me to plan out…. so it’s better that I simply cook day to day this week depending on how bad my GERD is….. also I’m gonna try a different medicine and hopefully that will work….. cause this sucks….

It’s even gotten to the point where I can hardly taste my food salty, sweet, sour….. it all taste the same to me…. and you would think that would make me not want to eat…. nope I tried to eat everything that I could because I wanted to taste something…. anything…

Although  I didn’t go to the gym I am happy to say that I am keeping up with my FitBit Challenges, both the Weekend Warrior and the Workweek Hustle…. some of these people are no joke, and for the first time (well the second time in a row I’m in the top 10!! And I even got out and walked in the cold and the snow a few times…I still find walking outside…even when its freezing cold more enjoyable then going to the gym.

Then this happened…. Guess I got what I wanted I wanted the accountability and Weight Watchers noticed

And as I said that in my head I devised a plan that I would weigh myself at home (wait what?) and monitor my weight on my non weigh-in weeks…  and last week was a gain, this week was a loss! I know that there is a maybe 2-3 pound difference between my scale and the Weight Watchers scale, and I played with my head if I should weigh in this week., I knew I had loss some weight, but by the time I got to my meeting this morning I had talked myself out of it.. because I weighted myself this morning in only my underwear, so I was unsure how much weight my clothes would add on, and if my clothes were too heavy I didn’t want to pay the 15 buck penalty….. so in the end I just sat down and simply went to a meeting…..

It occurred to me that although my new Weight Watchers status is really nothing but a new title, everything is still the same, EVERYTHING. I wake up with the same challenges, and sometimes I de really awesome, and other times I fail miserably, there is some comfort in knowing that every day is a new day and a new opportunity to make better choices

 

This week Facebook reminded me that it’s been a whole year since I’ve been on Prednisone so to “celebrate” the occasion of one year on the Devils Tic Tacs. I present my fat, prednisone face.

What I Ate Wednesday: I Didn’t Actually Cook Anything

Lately it seems that I have a piece of fruit before I workout and have a “smoothie” when I return, those Weight Watchers Smoothies are really feeling and they don’t taste bad.. Breakfast was 2 points

I was craving coffee bad, It was one of those days when you realize you were super busy and time went by faster than you expected and you actually missed lunch….. those are pretty rare for me, my stomach will always let me know when it’s time for food….So I just had a small coffee and a yogurt. My Snack was 3 Points

Subway has really become my “go-to” meal when I don’t want to cook or when I want “fast food” it doesn’t hurt that it’s right around the corner. So I had a six inch steal and cheese (yes I actually but cheese on my sandwich… but can you have a steak sammich without cheese? It just seems wrong), Baked Lays and a Diet Coke. Dinner was 14 points

Clearly you can tell that I didn’t have anything fancy today, but I will give myself extra points for not cooking a darn thing!

My general caloric intake is 1200 calories per day, and today I went  ate 854 calories, MyFitness Pal, actually gave me a “warning” telling me I wasn’t eating enough….. one day isn’t gonna hurt me.

I have 34 points  a day that I can consume, I ate 19 Points and had 15 left over (today was a fluke and it will never happen again)123

The rule of thumb is that you are supposed to drink at least 8 and today I was able to get 8 cups, and lately that has been difficult for me to get in.

What I Ate Wednesday: That Little Hole in the Wall Diner

I went out for a super early lake front walk with my cousin and the plan was to grab breakfast after so I just had something because I knew I had to so I grabbed a peach and went on my way. Breakfast was 0 points

Because things never really turn out the way that you plan, Breakfast became lunch… and we ate at this hole in the wall diner that is like the size of my bedroom and had lunch, I was craving eggs (which seems to be the normal these days)  Lunch was 27 points (not sure how accurate that is, but I would rather go over in my points assumption that to guess to little)

II knew I had pretty much eaten up all of my points/ and calories at lunch so I went for something quick and simple, left over white rice and roasted seaweed, with a side of diet coke. Dinner was 8 points

My general caloric intake is 1200 calories per day, and today I went over my goal (what else is new?)by consuming 1,766 calories. Thank goodness for some physical activity I was able to “bump” that down to 1,395 calories.

I have 34 points  a day that I can consume, I ate all of those at used 4 of my Weekly Points, so it really wasn’t that bad. I “earned” some activity points, but didn’t calculate them that day because I was still upset that my FitBit was broken.12

So for lunch I wanted to try something that I had never had before (actually I tried two new things.. and they both can out a win for me Sushi (Spicy California Rolls) and Roasted Seaweed YUMMY!. Lunch was 6 points

Time for some more protein…. this time in the form of two hard boiled eggs (with a little bit more pepper than I wanted).  And after dinner I had some cookies, but I didn’t take a picture of them (Damn you Girl Scout Cookies!!) Snacks were 10 points

Nothing fancy, just ate some left over chili, threw some cheese on it and added some chips..….. Dinner was 12 points
