I didn’t wear anything last week, and honestly I’m not sure if I remember what I wore a couple of weeks ago…. so let’s just say that I loved it and moved on….

Folly is glossy, raspberry red creame. When I saw it, I instantly picked it up (Thank goodness for Walgreen’s 99 cent sale), I never walk away from a pink tone…This Polish is part of the Bright to Buff collection, and I have a few of the polishes in the collection: Endless Blue and GoGoGirl, so naturally I wanted to add (FYI: I’m on the lookout for Pistache !). I loved this polish from the moment I put it one…. well until I put that top coat on it…but that’s for later.nail2

The application of Folly was easy,  In order for me  to get full opacity I applied two coats,  with one coat it looks good and I was happy with it, but I had slight VPL on some nails,  but with two coats the color is richer and more beautiful.  Folly is really pretty and bright but it was very hard to catch it and on the pictures it looks little bit brighter. Now the formula is Sinful Colors, some of them are hit or miss, but this particular one was smooth like butter, and it dried really quickly; which is always nice because without fault … every single time I do my nails I have to go to the bathroom 30 seconds after I finish the last nail.

Someone described this color as “squishy” not exactly sure that that means, but the person that complemented me was six…but I will admit that it has a sort of Barbie-esque quality to it that I enjoy. If your Walgreens/Walmart is anything like the ones near me, you aren’t really gonna find every color that you want/need at one store and you might not even find the color at all, so you have to look for dupes, and since it seems horribly unfair for me to suggest one that costs more than the original; but it seems that Sinful Colors has taken care of that for you with All The Rage (which I am pretty sure that I own). So you can get pretty much an identical look with either shade.dupes

Tsuki, has seriously been sticking close by me since the whole “post biopsy…oops I hit  a nerve now your in a ton of pain fiasco” happened, so she’s refused to move… so (parts of her ) in most of the pictures… either she loves me a lot or she’s in “Diva Mode” I’m hoping it’s the former. She doesn’t seem to mind, she is her favorite color after all.

This polish is an absolute gem and I have absolutely nothing bad to say about the color what’s so ever. So Folly uoi get a  10 out of 10!  Folly retails for $1.99 and (the topper) Amazing Glaze retails for $5.49

Last week wore I Love Nail Polish’s Birefringence, and as much as I gushed about it and although I was sad to take it off…cause let’s admit it, it’s a fantastic nail polish, and

with bottleChallenge Red-y is a blue toned from special made for a promotion for  Special K made by Nicole by OPI. The Shine Brighter campaign was introduced to encourage women to show off their confidence through color. Based on how many codes you were able to accumulate you would depends on the number of polishes you receive the entire collection include My Sol Shines Brighter and Live in the Momentum. I ate a LOT of Special K products this summer, so much so that now it’s the only cold cereal that I ate…. but thanks to my cereal eating I was able to get 6 polishes.

This crème polish and formula was smooth and very easy to apply. There was a bit of VPL after two coats…. so depending on how you apply it make take 2-3 coats. This polish is better described as a candy apple red , when you picture those old Hollywood vixens and movie stars this is the color they would be wearing. I felt superwithout bottle glamorous wearing this polish… I loved it so much I put it on my toes as well. You can’t go wrong with a red polish, and this one works really well on people with tan and dark toned skin.

Even though I love red, it’s not a color that I wear often, and now that my nails have gotten longer I think the red is a bit more noticeable. I had a lady at Wal-Mart walk up to me and ask me if my nail were real when  I replied that they were , she scrunched up her face, looked at my nails and “politely” told me that I shouldn’t wear that color because hey make me nails look fake. I’m sure I won’t be the first one to get a rude, opinionated comment about my nails…certainly I won’t be the last. (sorry for the lack up clean-up… I was super excited about this polish)

As soon as I sat this nail polish on the bed Tsuki wouldn’t stop playing with it I want to say that she was in a playful mood (but she’s always like that ), but not only that she wanted to do some sort of acrobatics…. she’s such a show off…  like me, she knows a good thing when she sees it.  And she knows that red looks as good on he r as it does on my … so because of the color, the easy application and the fact that some felt the need to tell my my nails looked fake I can’t help but give Challenge Red-y a 10 out of 10.

Nail Polish Lottery Club – Week 80

I actually thought that the removal process of last week’s pick would be a pain because I had on water decals, but it actually was a bit easier, I was gently remove the polish with an orange stick, with just tiny amount of nail polish remover to get some of the pieces left behind. No fuss, no muss and the best part there was absolutely no staining…. so good job Julep!

20140710_18311120140710_183120The web site describes Tori as “Deep cool-toned berry red packed with pink duochrome shimmer and silver microglitter. It seems like it’s been forever since I had a  Zoya polish on my nails, so believe me when I say I am super happy. I really love this brand of polish and I think it’s a fantastic value for the quality that I’m getting. I don’t think that I have ever had an issue with this brand; which is why I was a little freaked out when I put on my first coat of this polish and Ii t was super thin. I seriously freaked out a little bit; I started to wonder if the polish was to old… maybe I got a bad batch…. something… but after putting on the second coat I quickly realized that everything evened out by the second (which I was really grateful for). Although two coats should be good enough I did 3 just to make sure. But you can see in the photos (if you look close enough) there is still a bit of VNL. Overall the application was smooth and I had no issues with clumping or taking too long to dry.

I think the thing that I liked to most about this polish was the shimmer . I love a polish that has shimmer and glitter in makes me feel super girly. This is a polish that is really at it’s best when it’s in the sunlight. as you can tell in the pictures there is a bit of shimmer, but add a little 20140710_183038sunlight and you’ll definitely get a little bit more.  I thought about adding a little nail art, but seriously this is Zoya… you gotta let it stand on it’s own.

The whole time I was applying this polish I kept thinking that I already had a polish just like this, but as you can see from the photo the Ulta 20140710_171655polish is more of a jelly with larger glitters and shimmers… it’s similar, but hey…there’s not law saying that you can’t have similar polishes in your collection.

I love my cat… she’s so expressive and I seriously think she’s over this whole nail polish thing, but hey she has to do it … I feed her… but seriously she doesn’t seem all that excited about this particular polish as evident by her bitch face…. well po-po on her I thought that the polish was great. I never seem to have any real issues with Zoya20140710_183204 polishes, the colors are fantastic, the price is goo for the quality of polish (especially if you can get it at one of their sales) So Tori is getting a super solid 9 out of 10! The only reason why it’s not getting a perfect score if because I would have liked to have a little bit of shimmer in the polish.

WEEK 53 RANDOM NUMBER WAS 354

Alternate number  3 +5 + 4 = 12

Essie’s Decedent Dish

Collage111

I know this is a week late, but I was busy mourning the loss of  4 nails… who breaks 4 nails in  2 days?…. This chick does. In all fairness I think it hard something to do with the nail hardener I was wear and the polar vortex I was out in *sad face* And this is gonna be several weeks in once, things have been busy with having to prepare for births, sitting in on classes and dealing with the uber cold weather.

20131230_220544

One thing that really bothered me about this polish is that the iridescence found in the bottle was nowhere to be found on my fingers.  No matter how I tried to photograph it, it simply wouldn’t work. Overall it was a good solid color… Despite that I really loved the way this color looked on my nails, and when has anyone really had major issues with Essie… this get’s an 8 out of 10.

WEEK 54 RANDOM NUMBER WAS 354

Alternate number  35 + 4 = 39

Julep’s Zelda

zelda1_thumb2

For any one taking notice, this is the exact same number as last week. I love the look of the polish, but it didn’t really look that great on me. I think it had to do with the pink undertones. Julep seems to be really consistent with their polishes and there is nothing that I can say any different about this polish that I haven’t written before about other Julep polishes.  This polish did have a consistent shine throughout the week. This polish get’s a 6 out of 10.20140117_223230

THIS RANDOM NUMBER WAS 283

Alternate number  2+8 + 3 = 13

Nicka K New York’s Ripe Apple

This is as another goodie that I got from Ipsy, and this polish was issue right from the start. Although I was quite taken with the lovely shape of the bottle, the shape makes it really difficult to open the bottle sue to the really narrow handle… said narrow handle also makes it uber tricky to get a good grip to apply the polish. Ever since I got the polish I was really excited to try it on my nails… but before I put the color on my nails 20140121_205813I had to do a little repair on the brush since it as a little wonky….eek!!! I put a coat on my nails and the next day when I went to add a second layer the brush was exactly like it was the first time, so I had to cut the brush a second time.

The color was fantastic! A deep red that had a lot of shine. And with a good topcoat this polish lasted all week with minimal wear on some of my tips, and I was pretty upset about taking it off, but it as a new week, which means a new polish…. This one despite the issues that I had get’s a 8 out of 10, it would have gotten a solid 10 if there weren’t any brush issues…. 20140122_123852

Next week we will get back to our normal nail polish schedule… the next few weeks should be interesting considering I am starting to run out of polishes….. I might have to make some creative decisions…

Nail Polish Lottery Club – Week 49

Man, is it cold in my neck of the woods; I’m talking negative digits in the evenings, and if you are like me you’re wearing lots of layers and trying to stay warm. So when I noticed that this weeks pick’s name I instantly thought… KISMET! I should also caution you call because this post includes: dry hands in desperate need of lotion AND nails polish all over the place….I don’t care…. it’s been a tough week and I wanted to get this out

I gotta tell you guys I was so sad to have to take off the previous weeks nail polish, at the time when the this weeks number was published I was still rocking my mani… I love this color so much I have decided that I’m doing my toes this color…. they deserve to be cute too….but on to this weeks pick. And I wasn’t really able to enjoy this weeks pic, since I had a scheduled medical procedure and had to remove this polish early 20131209_190649

20131209_190352This color is a  great metallic red; it’s actually  from Sinful Colors Flash Metallics collection (the other polishes in this collection for this description, and this just doesn’t really seem like a metallic so I’m not sure what it was added but…….) Unfortunately these pictures just don’t quite do it justice. It’s a gorgeous deep shiny red, wonderful for fall/winter and great for the holidays T20131209_190443his one took a little longer to dry than the other SC polishes and it has a slightly different consistency. But once again, great even & opaque coverage with just 1 coat (which I find really surprising for Sinful Colors).

I have a lot of red polishes and this one really complements tanned or darker skinned people (Maybe because it’s not so “orange”), but this is defiantly a polish that I could see myself wearing all year- long. And to get myself further into the holiday mood, I decided to “candy-cane” my accent finger…which was super easy.

As I mention early I had to take this polish off early and it was a very easy experience, there was no staining which is always a plus for me. A cute color appropriate for the holidays, a true one coater and a no-mess clean up… what girl wouldn’t love this… this polish get’s a 9/10.

Until next time….
