Nail Polish Lottery Club – Week 46

Let me tell you a story about a nail polish loving girl who created a wish list of all that fabulous polishes that she wanted and one of those polishes that she wanted was Floam… but every time she went to buy it  it was sold out….. after a year or so she decided that it was not meant to be and moved on to other polishes… she brought Sand Art but wasn’t happy. Maybe that was one of the reason she fell so hard for Salon Perfect neon collision collection… seemed like the perfect dupe, but this girl was unlucky and none of her local Wal-Mart’s’ carried that collection, which made her seriously upset…because her Wal-Mart don’t carry anything she likes… one day quite by accident the girl found a coupon in the Sunday paper for Sally Hansen’s Fuzzy Coat and although it wasn’t the same they reminded her of her beloved Floam polish she got it anyway and when I tried it was a mess, but this week I’m willing to try again with something similar so let’s get started

I used an alternate numbers would be  2+2+5 = 9

So first off let me say thank you, thank you, thank you to my friend Kayly who sent me this nail polish a few months back as part of a care package when I was in the hospital.  I specifically waited to use this polish because it reminded me of a sweater that you wear in the fall. As I mentioned above, I’ve had an experience with a similar product and it didn’t work out that well for me. For the Fuzzy coat nail polish it said to continue to layer until the polish was opaque. Oh vey! I used up almost half a bottle and my nails looked liked crap…. so with this “feathered” polish I was determined to do better. Party Fowl is described as a multi colored bar glitter in baby blue, orange and black in a clear base. So it could work with a multitude of colors for a different look, or it your brave enough rock it on it’s own for an opaque look. But my personal favorite is wearing them with a black or white base…. they both give very striking but different looks

So I started with a black base for this one, I felt like using white would be a bit “summery” plus I always feel bad ass when I wear black polish. I made sure to use one of my favorites Sinful Colors Black on Black… you can’t go wrong with that , Now my first impression while putting this on my nail was, “wow, this is pretty thin” which it pretty good because  it’s always difficult to control the amount of polish you want on your nails when it’s thick and goopy. I applied two thin coats and bam! an interesting manicure for the Thanksgiving holidays.

There are a couple of things to note;  1. This polish dries really fast, so you won’t be sitting around for a long time waiting to dry. 2. This is a matte polish. 3. This is a textured nail polish so use a few layers of top coat if you don’t want to feel the “feathers”. I decided that I wanted a slight shine so I used my regular topcoat ( I was still able to feel the texture slightly) … and honestly I love the look.20131126_134641

I’m feeling generous people this polish get’s an 8/10!! 20131126_134611

Friend Makin’ Monday – The Holidays and More: Part 2

The Holidays and More: Part 2

Let’s be honest, it’s easy to get into the holiday mode when the weather allows it, Chicago has recently went through an artic blast with fluffy snow on the side, and with Thanksgiving right around the corner, it’s getting pretty hard to ignore all the Holiday decorations and Christmas music playing EVERYWHERE. Although I missed the first part last week, I did want to complete this part. Let me say how happy I am to be back, heck to be back blogging; let’s be honest I’m happy to be able to walk without assistance, The last 5 months have just been an absolute nightmare, between having a blood clot near my heart and gaining nearly 100 pounds of water weight then being diagnosed with multiple myeloma, believe me when I say normalcy is EXACTLY WHAT I NEED…blogging had become a creative outlet for me, so when I started to get sick I really missed it…..

1.  What state/country do you live in?  Chicago, Illinois, USA

2.  Where were you born?  Were you raised there?  I was actually born here in Chicago, but I spent my formidable years in Milwaukee, Wisconsin so I consider Milwaukee my hometown.

3.  How do you feel about stores like Wal-mart opening on Thanksgiving Day for pre-Black Friday sales?  Will you participate?  I have an issue with Wal-Mart on a whole, especially the way that they treat their employees; but I honestly feel like they need to spend time with their families as well. I think it’s awful and they should be ashamed…

4.  Have you ever participated in a Turkey Trot?  I had never heard of the Turkey Trot until this year, and it was a few days ago… the proceeds went to those affected by tornados in Washington, IL and surrounding areas. Although I’m not in the physical shape to do it this year, I would love to participate next year. It’s a little over 3 miles

5.  What was your favorite toy as a child? Oh my goodness, I had a Miss Piggy doll, I had that doll up until I went off to grad school… Now in all fairness I lost her dress a long time ago, but she was still fabulous in piggyher lavender swim suit. She had this long flowing blond hair that I would brush all the time. Even to this day I have a soft part in my heart for Miss Piggy….. when I was a little girl she was like the ultimate woman, she had a husband (Kermit) who adored her, friends who she constantly hung out with, and she had the most fabulous clothes and jewelry… let’s not forget all of her celebrity friends.. what’s not to love.

6.  Will you count points/calories on Thanksgiving Day? I’ve been counting my calories for well over a year now, if I don’t log in my meals, I’m gonna feel like something’s missing… plus it keep me accountable

7.  Will you watch football Thursday? I don’t think the Packers are playing this Thursday….

8.  Do you decorate inside/outside of your home for the holidays?  We decorate the inside…. my step father likes to do it… and it’s a multiday process. Last year I think the tree was bear until  Christmas eve; conversely it’s takes him a week and a half to take it down….we always offer to help, but that’s his thing you we leave it to him.
9.  Do you have allergies that prevent you from eating traditional holiday meals? Nope….

10. Is it snowing where you live? It actually snowed a little bit today. I actually get really cranky the first few times it snows…. people forget that we have more than one season and they forget how to drive in the snow. I drive according to the conditions… not these idiots in Chicago…. they continue to drive above the speed limit; then wonder why they got in an accident. I can not deal with it….

And a bonus question from last weeks FMM

List at least 5 things for which you are currently thankful.

  1. I am so thankful for my family, especially my mother, who sat next to me when I was in a hospital bed, who ALWAYS  reminded me that this was temporary;even when I didn’t think I would make it through.
  2. I am thankful for my friends who kept it normal, who sent me little message of love and kept me sane.
  3. I am thankful for my doctors who (despite the fact that I hated it) didn’t take the easy way out and went step by step to figure out and solve what was going on with me, if they hadn’t done that they wouldn’t have found the blood clot, or the stricture in my IVC and they certainly wouldn’t have found the myeloma. I’m thankful that despite my numerous health issues I’ve been lucky enough to have an outstanding group of doctors who have taken care of me.
  4. I am thankful for my belief in God, at the end of the day it’s what grounds me.
  5. I am thankful for my ability to piss people off…. it keeps things interesting

I hope everyone who is celebrating has a Happy Thanksgiving and a Happy Chanukah!!!
