This is the first time that I got 3 Voxes at the same time.

Maybelline Fit Me Foundation

After spending 3 minutes antagonizing over which was my shade turns out I was wrong, the shade that I received from Influenster was wrong…. Now I can’t truly be mad at the Maybelline or Influenster because we had to take a survey and guess based on the pictures provided. Of course they could’ve been lighter on the survey than my skin tone. What I didn’t know what this is not a new product, but it is a products that was coming out with new shades (which is always good for us WOC)

The foundation that I ended up getting was Matte + Poreless  Version in 332 Golden Caramel. So I am nothing if not resourceful. And contacted Influenster and a new bottle was shipped to me. I probably should say that I don’t normally wear foundation, partly because I will probably only wear it once or twice a month…and honestly I don’t think that it makes a big difference in the way that my skin looks.

So part of the requirements of this review I had to do a Before and After. So I did, and here are the results: I will say that my skin looks healthier, more even and seems to have a glow on it…overall I’m, pleased (and shocked) with the results… not a major difference but a subtle difference. I like this product. I got a lot of complements that day…. and that’s always a positive.

C9 By Champion

The thing that I hate about sports bras is the dreaded uni-boob, My local Wal-Mart, grocery store, bank and Starbucks are literally a hop, skip, and a jump from my gym, so more often than not after I go to the gym I will run errands before I head home and change, it’s bad enough that I have to deal with uni-boob at the jump (where it seems to be socially acceptable) but to deal with it in public is a no-no. I didn’t even realized that I qualified for the Virtual Vox, but was extremely happy when I did.

So I got a 40% off coupon that I could redeem at Target for a C9 Sports Bra. And was happy to see that a lot of the bras had cups and adjustable backs. The only problem that I had was trying to figure out which one I wanted, honestly there were so many to chose from, and all of them were cute. And since my coupon only allowed me to get one at the discounted price, I HAD to chose.

The following day I tested out the sports bra, the fit was good, a little snug, but that was expected since I’m between sizes at the moment, if I had gone a size up it would have been way too loose. so since I’m back in the gym maybe I’ll lose a few pounds and the fit will be perfect (Why do we always say that?) The think that I liked the most is that the uni-boob was gone. I worked out and ran an errand with two defined boobs, and it looked like I was wearing a regular bra. The hold of the bra was medium, I wasn’t bouncing everywhere, but it was comfortable enough to go through my workout and not feel constricted in any way. Overall I really liked this sports bra and will defiantly go back to Target to get more.

CVS Unilever Dry Spray VoxBox

I generally like to stick with what I know… I like stick deodorant.. I don’t know why I just do. So low and behold Influenster sent me a some to try…which is great… cause seriously I was running out; but I gotta admit I was slightly disappointed 20160311_090510when I realized that it was a spray. I began to conjure up thoughts of a wet underarm.. NOT COOL!.I was pleasantly surprised that I like it!  When I sprayed it under my arm, it dried immediately. The scent was pleasant and I have had more than one person ask me what was I wearing because it smelled so good.  When I told them it was my deodorant, you should’ve witnessed the look of surprise on their faces!

I like not having to check my clothing for deodorant stains.  No stain or residue is left on my clothing like I experienced with the other deodorants I have previously used

So walk on in to CV and pick up yourself a dry spray by Dove, Dove Men, Degree, Degree Men, or Axe and join me in #TryDry. What do you get for trying it? No, white marks…

Influenster Jingle VoxBox Review

Disclosure: This complimentary box was received for review purposes from Influenster. All opinions are my own and no compensation was received. This website Disclosure Policy is here

jvb

Before we begin I should say that I was supposed to receive this VoxBox before Christmas, when Influenster notified my that I was getting this box, I was super excited, because I think it’s been like 9 months since I had gotten my last VoxBox and as far as I was concerned it was time. So right around this time that the box was supposed to arrive I get a phone call from my mom saying, “Tyra, someone stole some boxes that were delivered to the house” She had mentioned how they were expecting a box with my brothers Christmas gift in it and they suspected that it had been stolen (it’s was the Holiday season, it’s Chicago… it happens). I figured my beloved VoxBox was one of the casualties….. oh well, maybe next time….

In the mean time I kept  getting these emails from Influenster telling about all the great things in the box, and I was pissy…someone asshole stole my box and these emails were teasing me. A few days before Christmas the “stolen” box appeared at the front door, apparently it had been delivered to a neighbor in the same building (who has a similar name)…. great my brothers gift was saved…. where the hell is my jingle VoxBox (I’m still pissy).

Christmas has passed, we have ushered in a new year, and on my mother’s birthday January 2nd) she says to me, “Tyra, you still have a box under the Christmas tree, as she brings it to me I see the red color and realize it’s my beloved Jingle VoxBox.. some random thieving asshole didn’t steal it, but my lovely, slightly scattered brained mother put it under the tree…. I don’t know why should would put a box that was delivered under the tree, I stop trying to understand her when she started going through menopause… So I have the both in my possession a few weeks late, but I have it. But it’s probably a good things I got it a little bit later than expected, because I was in no mood to do any of the requirements till now. So as one of my first posts since my long hiatus….. you guys get this.

Cetaphil® Moisturizing Cream – Cetaphil® Moisturizing Cream is a rich, quickly absorbing, non-greasy cream that provides long-lasting relief for even severely dry skin. This unique formula attracts water to skin and helps prevent moisture loss. cetaphil

I love this cream! It works great to keep your skin hydrated and helps rejuvenate any dry or cracked skin. I am the very definition of super dry winter skin, especially on my hands, it’s gotten to the point where I have cut my nails because my skin and nails have gotten so dry; and I also tend to wash my hands a lot so this doesn’t help.

Around November non my my usual lotions were working anymore I went out and brought like 4 or 5 lotions hoping they would work…. finally I came across this one which I wanted to avoid because it was a bit on the pricey side..but it’s well worth it to have nice, soft, supple, moisturized hands. I would highly recommend this for anyone who is dealing with the dreaded winter skin. #Cheerphil

This product retails between $8.99 – $15.99 depending on size

Ore-Ida® Tator Tots® –  Ore-Ida®, the inventor of the Tater Tot (I did not know that), is looking for you to be part of the net big Tator craze. The Tatcho!

20160101_153723_resized

I love potatoes, and lord knows I love a tator tot, so when I saw that lovely coupon that said “free” I was quick to run to Walmart… I ended up getting the mini tots because being on Weight Watchers I want to get a bang for my buck, plus I really think I’m eating a lot if there are 19 mini tots sitting happily on my plate…. so this idea of Tatchos got me all  excited….. and instantly I came up with a Weight Watchers friendly (it’s still a lot of smart points…) easy to make and filling….

Tatchos

So like I said I came up with the recipe, I have yet to make them…but keep an eye on my Instagram….I will post a picture of it ….. wait you’re not following me on Instagram….. SHAME!!!

Kiss® True Volume Lashes – Made with 100% natural hair, the lashes blend beautifully with your own lashes. The tapered End Technology creates natural looking ends that resemble real lashes but give eyes that perfect “vavoom” without looking too made-up

I am not a lash girl by any stretch of the imagination, and whenever I get lashes in an Influenster box (I AL20160109_111852WAYS seems to get them) I am filled with dread that I can’t explain Now I’ve watched so many tutorials, I clipped them and put them on as small pieces, I’ve put them on as a whole, I’ve used clear glue, I’ve used the black glue, I’m used glue that had a brush and I’ve used the kind that you had to squeeze out, the results are the same. they are never places right and they feel heavy and awkward on my eye.. I don’t know what the hell I’m doing, maybe if I get someone who is more knowledgeable in the art of lash placement I would think differently.

Kiss® Strip Lash Adhesive with Aloe – Enjoy wearing false lashes without the irritation!

NYC City proof Waterproof Eyeliner- City Proof 24HR Eyeliner is a waterproof pencil that is perfect for your on-the-go lifestyle. Just glide on for lasting 24HR color.

20160109_111904I was shocked at how smooth this went on, as as I said before my hands were really shaky putting it on, still went on nice and neatly. They were not kidding when they said waterproof. I washed my face with my gentle cleaner… it was still on, used some astringent…. still one…. asked some friends on Facebook, they suggested baby oil (which I had none and used some coconut oil instead) came off in a snap. So if you’re the kind of girl that sweats, smudges (or like me) cries at the drop of a hat…. this is the eyeliner for you..cause it’s not leaving your eyes unless you got some good remover or the apocalypse is coming

Pure Ice is made in the USA, without formaldehyde, toluene or DBP.

CollageI really like Pure Ice’s nail polish. There are a wide variety of colors to choose from at an amazing price! The consistency of the formula is very nice and doesn’t clump easily. Great “bang for your buck”! And for a girl who loves her polish I never leave Walmart with just one.

The color that was in my VoxBox was Laquered Lillacs which apparently is a Hard To Find polish (GO ME!!) which means I really got lucky.

Since nothing was  posted on the NPLC Facebook page last week and I made that post (unofficially week 101) This will be titled week 101 as well….20141209_193445_resized

With the new year coming in the next few days (and a time for celebrations) I’m happy that this week’s nail polish pick reminds me (slightly of fireworks) of fun and festive times. This week I’m wearing China’s Glaze’s Boo-Gie Down.

One of the reason’s why I’m so excited about this nail polish was because I got it on “Super Clearance” at Ulta; what’s “Super Clearance” you ask? Well the sales price was $0.97 as opposed to the normal $7.50… SUPER CLEARANCE! I’m sorry, I’m a frugal gal and when you see China Glazes for that price not only are you forced to get them (even if you are on a no buy) but you have to love it no matter what it looks like based on principal.

Now based on the name I would automatically assume that this is a Halloween polish (going to do polish research now………) Yep, it is… this polish is apart of China Glaze’s 2013 Monster’s Ball Collection (maybe they should consider renaming this polish and putting it in another collection; Sinful Colors does it all the time… This polish is chocked full of glitter, everything from Marco glitters to bar glitters … in in there all secured in a clear base. I will say that when I say this Halloween was the furthest thing from my mind, actually the very first thing I thought when I saw this was, “this would be the perfect polish for a Saint’s fan (which I am not one…. Go Pack Go!!!).

And yes I know that it’s a topper, but I’m wearing it alone, much like last week… look at me living on the 20141209_193012_resizededge…Now this could be for various reasons, it could be the fact that the nail polish is a little bit older (maybe why it’s on clearance… excuse me super clearance) or the fact that this polish is packed full of glitter but it was a tad bit difficult to apply this the way I normally do, so I was forced to use the “spackle” method… I simply had to tab it one until my nail was covered.

One of the reasons why I wanted to try this one on bare nails was partly I wanted to get  a feel for what this polish could do and the second one was, I had the hardest time trying to figure out what color to use for a base polish, I wanted to wear something where all the minute glitters on the polish would show;it wasn’t until after the polish was applied that I realized that it right look really good with one of my teal polishes (I guess I have to save that for next time)

1

This week Tsuki graciously allowed me to photograph her with the nail polish right as she woke, I think she’s excited that this is the last pick of the year.20141210_191944_resized

I loved it’s Despite the issues that I ha applying this polish I still really loved it, this nail polish now goes into a special category of nail polish I own called Celebration Polishes, and based on that  and the extraordinary amount of glitter in this bottle I can’t help but give it a favorable score. So Boo-Gie Down get’s an 8 out of 10!

China Glaze Boo-Gie Down retails for $7.50

Although I get a lot of boxes , samples, and freebies, I am always excited to hear that I have been picked to receive one of the Influenster VoxBox boxes!

If you aren’t familiar with Influenster, it is a free-to-join community of trendsetters, social media masterminds, and educated consumers who live to give opinions of products and experiences. They invite members to sample their “VoxBox” programs, totally free of charge in exchange for sharing honest opinions in via reviews and on special media. Based on the quiz that you fill out when they”pre-select” you for this box, you can generally get a pretty good idea of what’s in the box.  Of course, you don’t know for sure until it comes, but I had an idea of what to expect.

Just like with most subscription boxes, VoxBox sends an information card with product details, etc.  You are required to take a survey on your box and can, if you wish, blog about it, Instagram it, tweet about it, etc. to help you earn more points, but again, only the quiz is necessary!  Here is what the Influenster’ Frosty  VoxBox contained:

McCormick Gourmet Thyme                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      $4.79

20141223_170816   This is perfect for me at the moment since I’m currently try to expand my culinary skills and seasoning are just what I need, now to be honest I’m not sure if I’ve even used thyme in a recipe , but after looking around I got big plans… roasted chicken with lemon and thyme….sounds like perfection!

Rimmel Scandeleyes Waterproof Khol Kajai Eyeliner                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  $4.49

20141223_170721

I tend to always wear eyeliner, but  the one thing that is always bugs me is that it smudges and runs, and let’s face it I’m a crier so I tend purchase the waterproof variety, but I’ve never tried this brand (although I’ve heard of the brand). I applied the liner lightly on my eyes and I was shocked at how pigmented the color was… which means I can have fun, be creative without going over my eyes twently times to get the look that I want. I wore the liner all day and it stayed no problem… this one is a winner!

Gentle Eye Makeup Remover20141223_170633                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  $7.49

One of the things that I noticed when I reading about the Rimmel Eyeliner was that a lot of people were complaining that it was really difficult to remove, so I’m assuming that they didn’t use this make up remover. Now as a rule of thumb I don’t use an eye make up remove, and I guess that’s always why I wake up looking like a panda… but after using this product it’s pretty safe to say that I have been converted.

I love that this product had no smell and it was very gentle on my skin (hence the name) and a few swipes and all my eye make up including my water proof eyeliner! Which is always notoriously difficult to remove. I would purchase this again.

20141223_170708

How much do I love this brush? a whole lot, when I first saw this brush I though that it looked pretty heavy, but when I picked it up I was so surprised by how light and easy to handle it was very light and easy to handle I redid my hair this weekend and before I even used the brush I was concerned about how the brush would react with Ethnic hair, I didn’t want it to snag and damage my hair… but I had to reason to worry at all… it worked like a dream. The brush made such a good impression on my I have to check out the other products from this company. I think this is my favorite item out of the VoxBox

20141223_170731

When I first say this tea /I actually said that I was gonna skip it but after doing the Taste Test, I realized that it’s not so bad and this is something that I can have occasionally. What got me the most was the smell… it was really strong. I was also given a coupon, so I’ll be rushing to the store to get this and the Sugar Cookie one… yumm!

And I gotta say that I really love this companies slogan… “You are what you steep” such a cute play on words.

When I turned 30 the freakout about wrinkles began, luckily it’s not something that I deal with, but that doesn’t mean that I’m not activly trying to prevent them for as long as I can, unfortunatly I’m in the middle of an allergic reaction (I think it might have been the perfume that I  received as a gift… and even though I didn’t put it on my face) have broken out, so at the time of the unboxing I was unable to try this product *sad face*

 20141223_170645

When ever I get new cosmetics I get really excited… and new lipsticks make me squee with delight, when I although I have used NYC products before I was a bit iffy about the color of this lipstick it seems a bit light for my complexion, but after wearing it sort of looks like a nude on me; and I generally wear darker shades, I think that I’ll have to wear it a couple of more times before I get used to it. But the one thing that really caught my attention was the smell, I don’t know what it is, but I really liked the light scent and the price point is phenomenal.

So you’re probably wondering why there isn’t a picture of MY Fruit Vine Bites, well that’s pretty easy to answer, I ate them, they were the first thing I grabbed out of my VoxBox and the first thing that I ate, I knew I was gonna have to blog about it (and take a picture) but my greediness knows no bounds and for that you get a stock picture. Strangely enough I had never seen this product before … apparently they’ve been doing quite a bit of traveling promotion (and I missed it). I love Fruit Vines but these seems to have an extra kick. I had the cherry flavored ones, they weren’t to sweet with just the right amount of tartness… I went to go look for another bag at the grocery store (so I could photograph it) but the Walmart was bare… don’t worry I’m still on the lookout for more bags….

This box was a real winner, I loved everything in the box!  It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to used and give a favorable review of everything that was in my VoBox! Good job Influenster!!

Since nothing has been posted on the NPLC Facebook page, I’m assuming that there is a break for a Christmas holiday, but I shall go on without them and this will unofficially be Week 101. As far as I’m concerned last week’s pick was a show stopper that was perfect for the holidays, and this week I picked another holiday inspired polish…

20141204_224549When I picked this nail polish I kind you not I sang the entire Frozen soundtrack… this is totally an Elsa nail polish, but alias Sinful Colors didn’t see it my way, despite my emails (I’m kidding on that one) and  named it Ice Dreams instead…. which I guess when you think about it suits it as well.

Ice  Dream is   a fine silver glitter polish with larger discs of turquoise glitter in it. Very glitzy, very wintery. One coat is almost entirely opaque,  obviously this glitter would look fantastic with a grey, white or light blue, but for the purpose of this post I simply used it alone… I wanted to get the full effect.

This is currently apart of the Holiday Wishes collection, (Formally of the Glitz and Glittered collection )I said currently as you know Sinful Colors add pr20141204_224506eviously released colors and place them in multiple collections, but I really like these, all Blues and Golds, and all something I would totally wear (hell I already own a few of them)

I tend to get nervous when I’m using glitters because they are so hit and miss they are either clump and hard to apply or in this case, applies smooth and even with little or no problems, the polish dried really fast and the glitter was nice and smooth to the touch; one of my pet peeves with glitter is when it’s bumpy only because it has a tendency to snag on my clothing.

Several days later I changed my mind, and wanted to see what it would look like with a base color and I honestly I’m not use which way I prefer, and it sort of gives you a different look, but since I’m partial to blue this one is a winner.

I loved it’s polish and I love that you can create different looks with a different base polish, or you can wear it alone… and since it’s a winter themed and instantly reminded me of the movie Frozen I can’t help but give this polish a 10 out of 10 !

Sinful Color’s Ice Dream retails for $1.99.

Until Next Time….
