Friend Makin’ Mondays: Let’s Talk Movies

Well guess what’s it’s not Monday…. and there’s a reason for that.

I was waiting for an email from All The Weigh waiting for a prompt for the week, it NEVER even occurred to go back over to Losing Weight and Having Fun because DUH!!! That’s where the last FMM was. But I have an excuse, I had an early morning appointment at the Caner Center, you know like rational people you think you get an early appointment, you get out early…. nope not the cause, I didn’t leave until after 1pm, and I was so upset over the bad news I received I just wanted to go home, lay in the bed, watch some trash TV, and eat a dozen donuts (It’s a dangerous think when there is a 24 hour Dunkin’ Donuts a block away from your house), I wanted them so bad I could taste the sugary goodness in my mouth, it’s one of the bad things about being an emotional eater, but instead of wallowing, I changed my clothes and went to the gym and worked my butt off… I burned over 1000 calories;  but there were temptations everywhere… it just so happened to be the day that Planet Fitness has pizza (like a friend said, “that’s like serving booze at an AA meeting”) I went home had dinner and did my very best to stay up until the end of Teen Wolf…

This week once again reinforced something that I feel is key with weight-loss, this journey is all about the choices you make… and there are some days that those choices are easy and some days they are extremely hard. There are a lot of days when I don’t want to go to the gym, there are a LOT of days when I fall into a pity party, because the scale is going in the wrong direction, and lately I’ve been feeling discourages because I’ve been gaining weight and dealing with a bit of self negativity. But my support system is amazing and I know 100% I wouldn’t be where I am now without it; and some told me to “look back where you started”. So when I got home from the gym I took a picture.   I’ve come a LONG way, and I’m not even near my goal…. but my waiting to be healthy was prompted by the fact that I survived two transplants and I deserve to be the healthiest I can be, this cancer diagnosis took my entire family by a loop, and we don’t know where that journey will take me, but now more than ever I firmly believe that I need to be at my healthiest to beat it and that’s exactly what I plan to do….

So enough of my sob story, let’s get to FMM; considering that the Oscars were this week….these questions are timely……

1. What is your all time favorite movie?

I have to pick one? That’s just wrong… I can’t do that….

2. Who is your favorite actor and actress?

Tom Hanks is my favorite actor hands down!! Favorite actress would be Sandra Bullock.

3. What is the first movie you ever saw at the cinema?

I really don’t know, but one of my earliest was going to see Brewster’s Millions with my grandmother (that movies still holds really fond memories for me)….she also took me to see Robo Cop a few years later and I remember being on my feet the entire time, I just remember how excited it was to see that movie at such a young age

4. Did you watch The Oscars last night?

Nope

5. How many of the Best Picture nominations did you watch and which did you enjoy the most?

I haven’t gotten a change to see any of them… but an Oscar themed movie marathon is coming soon! I’m most looking forward to see Dallas Buyers Club.

6. What did you think of Ellen hosting The Oscars?

I have a rule, I don’t watch award shows… I don’t have the patience for them, plus I can get all the highlights the next day…. social media really makes it so I don’t have to watch… EVERYONE commented on the Oscars, the performances, and the winners. But I do like Ellen, she’s the kind of performer that’s really causal and seems to put people at ease and everything that I heard about this year’s Oscars seem to have a fun and casual environments… which is excellent, those kinds of award ceremonies are long and stuff….I’m sure she’ll be back again next year.

7. If you had the chance to play a part in any movie, what would it be?

Wow, that’s a hard one. You know I think that I would be the excellent in the role of the sassy friend to the main character in a romantic-comedy. Maybe something similar to Bridesmaids… wait aren’t they making a sequel…. how can I get a part in that… I would seriously act in ANYTHING Melissa McCarthy is in, she’s my girl-crush and she is absolutely amazing!

8. Is there a movie you have watched that was so bad that you have either walked out of the cinema or turned it off?

Seriously, there are so many, I’m the kind of person that will watch a movie and find know exactly who the bad guy is, or know how the story is gonna end. I guess being an over analytical person it’s sometimes difficult to watch and enjoy movies, that might be one of the reasons why I re-watch the movies that I love over and over again… But one movie that I rented that I had to turn off half way through was The Hunger Game, I couldn’t do it…it was too much, too many people were dying in horrible ways…. let me rephrase that children were being killed by other children… and I never watched it, and I don’t plan on watching the sequels

9. What do you think of 3D and IMAX movies? Are they worth the extra money?

I think it definitely depends on the movie. The last movie I saw in 3D was Nightmare Before Christmas, when they rereleased it a few years back my roommate (who is a huge fan of the movie) felt like I NEEDED to see it because I hadn’t seen it before…. best part of the movie… those little twin boys

10. What was the last movie you saw at the cinema?

One of the reasons that I don’t go to the cinema that often is because I suffer through the annoying affliction called, “I need to comment about characters, dialogue and plot during the movie” .The last movie I saw in the cinema was Flight, and I went because my mom wanted to see it, it didn’t seem like “my type of movie” and I absolutely loved it. And even though you didn’t ask… the next movie I plan to see is Veronica Mars… I am a Marshmallow!!!

It was late, but I did it… now, I just gotta go back and read everyone else’s, responses…. next week this is be posted on a Monday…. which is only a few days away….

Until Next Time….
