Friend Makin’ Mondays: Movies!

If you’ve taken part in FMM before then you are familiar with the rules. If you’re new, please take a moment to answer this week’s question on your own blog then add your link in the comments section here so we can all see your FMM questions and answers. Please invite your blog readers to add their links here too so everyone has to opportunity to be seen. The idea is to connect with other awesome bloggers so take a moment to read and comment on a couple of other posts. Now it’s time for this week’s topic!

1. What is your favorite current movie? Lost in Austen (which is technically not a movie) so then I’ll pick Austenland (notice a theme here?)

2. What is your all-time favorite movie? Pretty in Pink, this movie started my John Hughes/ Molly Ringwald obsession

3. What was your favorite movie growing up? The Sound of Music .. it still is. I love Julie Andrews.

4. Is there a movie(s) that you watch at a certain time(s) of the year every year? I only watch Elf during the holiday season, and actually any other Christmas themed movie is strictly reserved for the Holiday Season

5. Do you like animated movies? They are okay, the last animated movie I saw in the theater I cried like someone beat me, so I wait till they come on video and cry in the privacy of my own home.

6. What is your favorite genre of movie? Romantic Comedies

7. Do you like movies with sequels or multiple parts? If so, which ones are your favorite? Sometimes a sequel is required, but there are some movies that only have sequels because they are want to make a quick buck…. one of the most unnecessary sequels EVER…Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2.…. no one needed to see that.

8. What is your least favorite genre of movie? Sci-Fi  and Action

9. What is the worst movie you have ever seen? Fifty Shades of Grey. The book was absolute shit… so one shouldn’t expect much.

10. Do you like to see movies in the theater or do you wait until they all come out on video? Depends on the situation, depends on the movie… more often than not I hear about a movie and want to see it and it’s already gone.
It really depends on the movie.  There are some that just *have* to be seen in the theater, but most can wait until they’re out on video.

Bonus Question: what do you like to snack on while watching a movie? Since starting weight watchers I stay away from the concession snacks (empty calories, and way too much fat and sugar) So I bring my own, yes I know it’s technically not allowed, I ALWAYS bring carrots, if I close my eyes real tight they seem like chips or popcorn (it’s all the chewing that required and they snap) and Veggie Straws, which is a great alternative to salty snacks…

And since I’m working on my Korean I pose this question to you all 당신이있는 곳, 그것이 여기에 시카고에서 얼어 감기인가? … 따뜻하게!  (Is it cold where you are?, it’s freezing here in Chicago … Stay Warm!)

Kick The Bucket

Writing Prompt: What are the top items on your anti-bucket list — those things you never, ever want to do, places you never want to visit, books you never want to read, etc.?

Top 5 things on my anti-bucket list:

  1. Never read “Fifty Shades of Grey” again – seriously people despite all the hype surrounding the book (and the movie); but this was a really difficult book to read, not because o the subject matter, but because this book was so poorly written, I couldn’t get into it, because I keep finding errors then I started editing the book as I was reading, and I couldn’t stand Anna, I found her so damn annoying , and found myself screaming at my book asking why she was so spineless, I read for enjoyment not to raise my blood pressure, I read these books once and they chucked them in the trash… mommy porn my ass.
  2. I never want to see the movie Vacancy again. I love a good scare, but this movie fucked with me in ways I can’t even verbalize. months after I watched the move (and I didn’t watch it all) I was still thinking of it
  3. I never want to visit St. Rose Dominican hospital again. It’s a wonderful facility but honestly stepping back in that place would cause a panic attack of epic proportions. After spending 6 weeks there, 2 comas, and multiple medical emergencies, I think it’s understandable why I don’t want to enter that place.
  4. Not speaking to my mother was the pits… and I never want to do that again., once was enough, I think it lasted for over a month… the reasons why aren’t important (and they honestly weren’t important then either) but we’re bot h alike in the fact that we are both stubborn and want have out say, so we tend to butt heads often.. we just know how to deal with it better. But #3 was the reason we started speaking again. I was started to get sick and was scared and after a visit to quick care and the doctor told me that I needed to go to the ER right away I called her and told her that I needed her.
  5. There is enough crap in the world making people feel like they are worth-less and not good enough. We see it everyday from what we watch on TV, do our “friends”, we even do it to ourselves, I never want to be one of those people that makes someone else feel that way. We deal with enough stuff on a daily basis, do we really need to deal with that too?

Until Next Time….

Cue The Violins

Writing Prompt: If your life were a movie, what would its soundtrack be like? What songs, instrumental pieces, and other sound effects would be featured on the official soundtrack album?

I love music, it’s an important part of my life, and it would be an important part of my movie.  But it would be such an odd miss mash, different genres depending on what time in my life you were focusing on… it would a multi volume  soundtrack, do they even have those. Without a doubt it would be 90’s boys bands: New Kids on the Block, Backstreet Boys, N’Sync… the usual. There has to be some old school Motown; Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, The Supreme oh my goodness you can’t forget Bon Jovi, and anything on Limp Bizkit’s “Significant Other” album.

If the movie was starting today, there would be some K-Pop in there… like Exo – K’s “Overdose”, Got 7’s “A”, and the one song that has never left my iPod 2pm’s “A.D.T.O.Y.”

One thing I know for certain is the song that would play during the end credits would be Counting Crows Colorblind… I love the simplicity of the song and at the end it’s just a great song.

I told you it was gonna be an odd mix.

Until Next Time….

Friend Makin Mondays: Animals

f you’ve taken part in FMM before then you are familiar with the rules. Please invite your blog readers to add their links here too so everyone has to opportunity to be seen. The idea is to connect with other awesome bloggers so take a moment to read and comment on a couple of other posts. Now it’s time for this week’s topic!

So what were my Mountains and Molehills this week? My Mountain this week was a s rather surprising one. I got 3 pairs of jeans in a much smaller sizes and to be honest I probably could have gotten a smaller size AND I got a awesome Speedo swimsuit 3 sizes smaller than what I was wearing last summer…YIPEE!! My Molehill is a common one, I caught a cold.. and it’s really throwing me for a loop I don’t catch colds that often, because I’m immunosuppressed I m very cognizant about washing my hands and wiping down surfaces. But last week I was out and around a lot of people and the weather literally changes 50 degrees from day to day; so I might have slipped… its my first cold in 4 years…

1. What is your favorite domestic animal?

I with Sarah on this, any excuse to show a picture of my baby Tsuki… well let’s me honest I don’t really need an excuse do I? I love dogs, and sometime in the future I hope to be able to get one, but ever since I was a little girl my family has had cats… and I love the independence of cats have and their, “I don’t need you, you need me personality”

2. What is your favorite farm animal?

I honest thing that it has something to do with the fact that I spent so much of adolescence in Wisconsin, but I seriously love a cow, more specifically the Guernsey Cow.

3. What is your favorite wild animal?

I love African Elephants… elephants in general. I think they are so beautiful and majestic, and  they are incredibly smart animals

4. Which animal describes you the best?

A Lioness.  Who doesn’t love an animal with a pack mentality (family orientated) and lead by the Female. Did you know that Prides can have as many as 40 individuals, including adult females, sub-adults (about 2 to 4 years old), cubs and one or two attached male lions. They mate about every two years, giving birth to one to six cubs after a three-and-half-month gestation period. About 60 to 70 percent of cubs die within the first year of their life. Females cooperate in raising a pride’s cubs… pretty much awesome and kick-ass…just like me!

5. If you were able to come back as an animal which one would it be?

I would come back as domesticated cat, they have a cushy life, they get feed, and are loved and cared for and get nice treats….. my cat has it made.

6. What do you think about zoos?

I enjoy the zoo, I know that a lot of people have issues with them, and yes I am aware that there have been issues with neglect and abuse in zoos, but on a whole I think that the work that they do is fantastic and they do a wonderful job educating people about the worlds animals

7. What do you think about animals in circuses?

As a child I used to love our yearly trips to the circus, personally I think the time for circuses (using animals) has passed. I don’t feel like there is enough oversight about the care and training of animals in the zoo, and quite frankly I’m sick of hearing about animal dying in the car of circus trainers.

8. Do you have a favorite animal charity you like to support?

The American Human Association. I feel like children and animals are the most vulnerable populations out there, and it really tugs at my heartstrings, when I seem them abused, neglected and mistreated.

9. Do you have a favorite ‘animal’ movie?

I love this movie, and Tom Hanks is one of my favorite actors, every single time that Hooch dies.. ugly cry like a baby, if you have never seen this movie, go watch it, then go hug your pets..

Now it is your turn to answer the questions, don’t forget to come back here and link your answers in the comments below.

as my French friends say…
Jusqu’à la prochaine fois

Friend Makin’ Mondays: Let’s Talk Movies

Well guess what’s it’s not Monday…. and there’s a reason for that.

I was waiting for an email from All The Weigh waiting for a prompt for the week, it NEVER even occurred to go back over to Losing Weight and Having Fun because DUH!!! That’s where the last FMM was. But I have an excuse, I had an early morning appointment at the Caner Center, you know like rational people you think you get an early appointment, you get out early…. nope not the cause, I didn’t leave until after 1pm, and I was so upset over the bad news I received I just wanted to go home, lay in the bed, watch some trash TV, and eat a dozen donuts (It’s a dangerous think when there is a 24 hour Dunkin’ Donuts a block away from your house), I wanted them so bad I could taste the sugary goodness in my mouth, it’s one of the bad things about being an emotional eater, but instead of wallowing, I changed my clothes and went to the gym and worked my butt off… I burned over 1000 calories;  but there were temptations everywhere… it just so happened to be the day that Planet Fitness has pizza (like a friend said, “that’s like serving booze at an AA meeting”) I went home had dinner and did my very best to stay up until the end of Teen Wolf…

This week once again reinforced something that I feel is key with weight-loss, this journey is all about the choices you make… and there are some days that those choices are easy and some days they are extremely hard. There are a lot of days when I don’t want to go to the gym, there are a LOT of days when I fall into a pity party, because the scale is going in the wrong direction, and lately I’ve been feeling discourages because I’ve been gaining weight and dealing with a bit of self negativity. But my support system is amazing and I know 100% I wouldn’t be where I am now without it; and some told me to “look back where you started”. So when I got home from the gym I took a picture.   I’ve come a LONG way, and I’m not even near my goal…. but my waiting to be healthy was prompted by the fact that I survived two transplants and I deserve to be the healthiest I can be, this cancer diagnosis took my entire family by a loop, and we don’t know where that journey will take me, but now more than ever I firmly believe that I need to be at my healthiest to beat it and that’s exactly what I plan to do….

So enough of my sob story, let’s get to FMM; considering that the Oscars were this week….these questions are timely……

Friend Makin’ Mondays: Let’s Talk Movies

If you’ve taken part in FMM then you know the rules. If you’re new, please take a moment to answer this week’s question on your own blog then add your link in the comments section here so we can all see your FMM questions and answers. Please invite your blog readers to add their links here too so everyone has to opportunity to be seen. The idea is to connect with other awesome bloggers so take a moment to post your own FMM post and comment on a couple of other posts. Now it’s time for this week’s topic!

1. What is your all time favorite movie?

I have to pick one? That’s just wrong… I can’t do that….

2. Who is your favorite actor and actress?

Tom Hanks is my favorite actor hands down!! Favorite actress would be Sandra Bullock.

3. What is the first movie you ever saw at the cinema?

I really don’t know, but one of my earliest was going to see Brewster’s Millions with my grandmother (that movies still holds really fond memories for me)….she also took me to see Robo Cop a few years later and I remember being on my feet the entire time, I just remember how excited it was to see that movie at such a young age

4. Did you watch The Oscars last night?

5. How many of the Best Picture nominations did you watch and which did you enjoy the most?

I haven’t gotten a change to see any of them… but an Oscar themed movie marathon is coming soon! I’m most looking forward to see Dallas Buyers Club.

6. What did you think of Ellen hosting The Oscars?

I have a rule, I don’t watch award shows… I don’t have the patience for them, plus I can get all the highlights the next day…. social media really makes it so I don’t have to watch… EVERYONE commented on the Oscars, the performances, and the winners. But I do like Ellen, she’s the kind of performer that’s really causal and seems to put people at ease and everything that I heard about this year’s Oscars seem to have a fun and casual environments… which is excellent, those kinds of award ceremonies are long and stuff….I’m sure she’ll be back again next year.

7. If you had the chance to play a part in any movie, what would it be?

Wow, that’s a hard one. You know I think that I would be the excellent in the role of the sassy friend to the main character in a romantic-comedy. Maybe something similar to Bridesmaids… wait aren’t they making a sequel…. how can I get a part in that… I would seriously act in ANYTHING Melissa McCarthy is in, she’s my girl-crush and she is absolutely amazing!

8. Is there a movie you have watched that was so bad that you have either walked out of the cinema or turned it off?

Seriously, there are so many, I’m the kind of person that will watch a movie and find know exactly who the bad guy is, or know how the story is gonna end. I guess being an over analytical person it’s sometimes difficult to watch and enjoy movies, that might be one of the reasons why I re-watch the movies that I love over and over again… But one movie that I rented that I had to turn off half way through was The Hunger Game, I couldn’t do it…it was too much, too many people were dying in horrible ways…. let me rephrase that children were being killed by other children… and I never watched it, and I don’t plan on watching the sequels

9. What do you think of 3D and IMAX movies? Are they worth the extra money?

I think it definitely depends on the movie. The last movie I saw in 3D was Nightmare Before Christmas, when they rereleased it a few years back my roommate (who is a huge fan of the movie) felt like I NEEDED to see it because I hadn’t seen it before…. best part of the movie… those little twin boys

10. What was the last movie you saw at the cinema?

One of the reasons that I don’t go to the cinema that often is because I suffer through the annoying affliction called, “I need to comment about characters, dialogue and plot during the movie” .The last movie I saw in the cinema was Flight, and I went because my mom wanted to see it, it didn’t seem like “my type of movie” and I absolutely loved it. And even though you didn’t ask… the next movie I plan to see is Veronica Mars… I am a Marshmallow!!!

It was late, but I did it… now, I just gotta go back and read everyone else’s, responses…. next week this is be posted on a Monday…. which is only a few days away….

Until Next Time….
