Movies!

images

1. What is your favorite current movie? Lost in Austen (which is technically not a movie) so then I’ll pick Austenland (notice a theme here?)

220px-Austenland_Poster

2. What is your all-time favorite movie? Pretty in Pink, this movie started my John Hughes/ Molly Ringwald obsession

220px-Pretty_In_Pink

3. What was your favorite movie growing up? The Sound of Music .. it still is. I love Julie Andrews.

220px-Sound_of_music

4. Is there a movie(s) that you watch at a certain time(s) of the year every year? I only watch Elf during the holiday season, and actually any other Christmas themed movie is strictly reserved for the Holiday Season

220px-Elf_movie

5. Do you like animated movies? They are okay, the last animated movie I saw in the theater I cried like someone beat me, so I wait till they come on video and cry in the privacy of my own home.

6. What is your favorite genre of movie? Romantic Comedies

7. Do you like movies with sequels or multiple parts? If so, which ones are your favorite? Sometimes a sequel is required, but there are some movies that only have sequels because they are want to make a quick buck…. one of the most unnecessary sequels EVER…Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2.…. no one needed to see that.

220px-Book_of_shadows_blair_witch_two_poster
8. What is your least favorite genre of movie? Sci-Fi  and Action

9. What is the worst movie you have ever seen? Fifty Shades of Grey. The book was absolute shit… so one shouldn’t expect much.

50
10. Do you like to see movies in the theater or do you wait until they all come out on video? Depends on the situation, depends on the movie… more often than not I hear about a movie and want to see it and it’s already gone.
It really depends on the movie.  There are some that just *have* to be seen in the theater, but most can wait until they’re out on video.

Bonus Question: what do you like to snack on while watching a movie? Since starting weight watchers I stay away from the concession snacks (empty calories, and way too much fat and sugar) So I bring my own, yes I know it’s technically not allowed, I ALWAYS bring carrots, if I close my eyes real tight they seem like chips or popcorn (it’s all the chewing that required and they snap) and Veggie Straws, which is a great alternative to salty snacks…

And since I’m working on my Korean I pose this question to you all 당신이있는 곳, 그것이 여기에 시카고에서 얼어 감기인가? … 따뜻하게!  (Is it cold where you are?, it’s freezing here in Chicago … Stay Warm!)

Online Shopping… I love it…

2. What would be the title of your autobiography?

What The F#ck! – The Genius of Living Your Life Full of Snark

3. When you were at school, what did you want to be when you grew up?

When I was in the second or third grade I wanted to be a secretary. I loved (and still love) the idea of paper , pens, files and all those things…but as I got older that answer changed. I thought about being a doctor, a teacher and a a nurse (I wanted to be in a position where I could help people) As I’ve gotten older, I think the job that would suit me the most would be a writer.

4. If you could invent a gadget, what would it be and why?

Something that would take inventory of the room and be able to locate something if it goes missing. I can’t tell you how many times, I lose my keys, my phone, my cats…. a gadget like this would make my life so much easier.

5. What is your favorite quote?

If you’re going through hell, keep going  – Winston Churchill
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to recite this to myself…. life sucks sometimes…and it might seem like what ever struggle your going through is never ending… but eventually you come out on the other side, stronger than you were before

6. What is the best meal you have every had?

It was spaghetti that my mother had, now I should probably explain this because I hate spaghetti… but at the time I was awaiting my second liver transplant, I was depressed and so sick and I didn’t want to celebrate my birthday AT ALL. My mom asked me to come over and my cousin Michelle was there and even though I wasn’t eating much during that time I made an effort to eat… and it was fantastic. I will always remember that birthday and that plate of spaghetti… FYI: My mom said the reason why it tasted so good was because she put a little bit extra love in it

7. If you could choose your age forever, what  you  would you choose and why?

I would be 17 years old. I was emotional and moody as a teenager…. I was in such a rush… to be an adult… to be free… and looking back now I want to just cry because I was in a  rush to do nothing. I think I spent most of my life saying, “I can’t wait to turn 18” Then when I did it was such a let down … nothing magical happened; I didn’t instantly become an adult… I felt exactly the same as did when I turned 17…it wasn’t until years later when I turned 30 when I actually felt like an adult.

8. What TV game show would you like to go on?

FamilyFeud2007Logo

I have always wanted to go on the Family Feud, and I ALWAYS tell my family that I would have to hire people to pretend to me my family so that we can win

9. If you had one day to live over again, what day would it be?

Honestly I don’t know, I think maybe  I would have a better idea when I’m 80 years old

10. You are planning the most awesome dinner party of your life. Which 3 celebrities/historical figures (past or present) would you add to you guest list?

Queen Elizabeth, Marilyn Monroe, and Abraham Lincoln

As my friends in Nepal would say,

 अर्को समय सम्म

So what were my Mountains and Molehills this week? My Mountain this week was a s rather surprising one. I got 3 pairs of jeans in a much smaller sizes and to be honest I probably could have gotten a smaller size AND I got a awesome Speedo swimsuit 3 sizes smaller than what I was wearing last summer…YIPEE!! My Molehill is a common one, I caught a cold.. and it’s really throwing me for a loop I don’t catch colds that often, because I’m immunosuppressed I m very cognizant about washing my hands and wiping down surfaces. But last week I was out and around a lot of people and the weather literally changes 50 degrees from day to day; so I might have slipped… its my first cold in 4 years…

Animals

1. What is your favorite domestic animal?

I with Sarah on this, any excuse to show a picture of my baby Tsuki… well let’s me honest I don’t really need an excuse do I? I love dogs, and sometime in the future I hope to be able to get one, but ever since I was a little girl my family has had cats… and I love the independence of cats have and their, “I don’t need you, you need me personality”

tsuki

2. What is your favorite farm animal?

I honest thing that it has something to do with the fact that I spent so much of adolescence in Wisconsin, but I seriously love a cow, more specifically the Guernsey Cow.
cow

3. What is your favorite wild animal?

I love African Elephants… elephants in general. I think they are so beautiful and majestic, and  they are incredibly smart animals

African_elephant_warning_raised_trunk

4. Which animal describes you the best?

A Lioness.  Who doesn’t love an animal with a pack mentality (family orientated) and lead by the Female. Did you know that Prides can have as many as 40 individuals, including adult females, sub-adults (about 2 to 4 years old), cubs and one or two attached male lions. They mate about every two years, giving birth to one to six cubs after a three-and-half-month gestation period. About 60 to 70 percent of cubs die within the first year of their life. Females cooperate in raising a pride’s cubs… pretty much awesome and kick-ass…just like me!

5. If you were able to come back as an animal which one would it be?

I would come back as domesticated cat, they have a cushy life, they get feed, and are loved and cared for and get nice treats….. my cat has it made.
tsuki2

6. What do you think about zoos?

I enjoy the zoo, I know that a lot of people have issues with them, and yes I am aware that there have been issues with neglect and abuse in zoos, but on a whole I think that the work that they do is fantastic and they do a wonderful job educating people about the worlds animals

7. What do you think about animals in circuses?

As a child I used to love our yearly trips to the circus, personally I think the time for circuses (using animals) has passed. I don’t feel like there is enough oversight about the care and training of animals in the zoo, and quite frankly I’m sick of hearing about animal dying in the car of circus trainers.

8. Do you have a favorite animal charity you like to support?

The American Human Association. I feel like children and animals are the most vulnerable populations out there, and it really tugs at my heartstrings, when I seem them abused, neglected and mistreated.

9. Do you have a favorite ‘animal’ movie?

turner-and-hooch

I love this movie, and Tom Hanks is one of my favorite actors, every single time that Hooch dies.. ugly cry like a baby, if you have never seen this movie, go watch it, then go hug your pets..

So what were my Mountains and Molehills this week? My Mountain this week was a big one, for some strange reason I had a burst of energy, and did I not only go to the gym, but I ran 3 5k’s!  My Molehill…. was what happened on Friday night… all that energy was GONE! and I’ve felt like crud ever since…. everything hurts…

Childhood Memories

1. I know I love posting photos and you guys do too, so this first one you will love. Post a photo of you as a baby/small child.

39021_417256500994_3363375_n

This is me and my mom, I remember this day… we took this photo at a fire station… and I also remember that I hated this dress…I think tears might have been shed that day.

2. Describe yourself as a child in three words.

Moody, Imaginative, and Inquisitive

3.What was one of your first school memories?

Graduating from Kindergarten, I was so sad that I was leaving my teacher and going to a big school… like seriously beside my mother she was like my favorite person in the entire world. There is even a photo of the two of us together in my paper cap and gown.

4. How did you get to school?

Kindergarten to Elementary School I walked to school… it was about 2 blocks… then we moved to a different state and I was bused to my Middle School, Public transportation was used from High School, Associates and Bachelor’s Degrees, When I was pursuing my Master’s I drove (only because my classes were at night and I was coming after work) And now that I’m thinking about going back to school do pursue my Doctorate…. I’ll once again be taking public transportation… parking in Chicago will make you poor..

5. What was your favorite toy?

My Miss Piggy Doll…. I still have her… and she’s still fabulous!!!

DSC02419

6. Did you have a favorite place you used to go on vacation to as a child?

When I was younger we used to go to Six Flags Great America several times a summer, in the beginning I would go with my grand parents. My grandfather worked for the US Postal Service and every year they would have their employee picnic there…although it’s not a “vacation” per se… it’s one of my best childhood summer memories… FYI the last time that I went to Great America was a few years ago… after I left the park sore from all the bumping and sliding I was doing on the rides I declared that I was too damn old for roller coasters and theme parks…

7. If you had siblings did you ever get dressed in similar outfits?

No,  thank goodness! I’m the oldest and the only girl and there is a significant age difference between me and my siblings… the difference between and my younger brother is 7 years and the difference between my youngest brother is 12 years… Okay so there was this one time… we all were Simpson’s T-shirts to a BBQ…. listen, it was the early 90’s and we will never talk about it again… an no there are no pictures of that hot mess either!

8. Do you remember learning to ride your bike?

Yes. It’s actually one of my favorite memories, my mother tried to teach me and it just wasn’t happening… so there was a this teen who my mom paid to do yard work and he say me struggling. And he told me one thing…don’t think about falling, just thing about going straight… and it worked… Apparently he could tell I was hesitant about falling…

9. Were you a thumb sucker as a child?

Nope, I actually have adult cousin’s who still suck their thumbs, it’s not a good look AND its gross!

10.What is one of your favorite childhood memories?

I remember the day that my mother brought my brother home from the hospital. I knew she was pregnant, but there were complications and he had surgery and was in the hospital for a long time so when he got home I “forgot” he existed… so when he came home I asked my mom “who is that?” Thinking that it was my cousin Michelle (my mom an aunt were pregnant at the same time) when she replied, “you’re bother” I flipped out… I hated him on sight..needless to say things got better…lol

Funny thing is when my youngest brother was born it was the total opposite…

Have a great day everyone!!!

So what were my Mountains and Molehills this week? My Mountain this week was a small one, but it brought the largest smile on my face. I’m visiting with my mom and she writing a shopping list for the Mother’s Day brunch that she’s hosting next week, and I’m looking through my phone… okay I was on Facebook. And I hear my mother singing, which isn’t that odd she sings a lot, but I stop what I’m doing and realize that she’s singing “Wrecking Ball” by Miley Cyrus (she’s a fan …. I don’t understand at all) My Molehill…. I didn’t really have one. things have been steady health wise, fatigue and nausea are at a minimum, hair is still coming out, but I can’t do anything about that…. I will say that last week was a good week for me.
