What I Ate Wednesday: I Didn’t Actually Cook Anything

WIAW_thumb[2]

So clearly this is not an original thought WIAW was originated from Peas and Crayons  and a lot of other bloggers have started doing it as well; and since I can’t be original and I really like the idea of doing this… I decided to give it whirl as well. This will pretty much be a mish-mash of stuff,  some days I will try a new technique or perhaps I’ll be eating something for the first time as is the case today… and someday it might be leftover chili…who knows, and I guess that’s part of the fun. When I first started blogging it was to remain accountable with my exercise and food intake, so this is kind of takes me back… Very little of this is planned… but it’s 100% honest…I always want WIAW to be an accurate account of what I am eating. Not everyday I eat completely healthy, but more often than not I make healthy choices.

As always my Weight Watchers Points into the fold.

WIAWBreakfast

Lately it seems that I have a piece of fruit before I workout and have a “smoothie” when I return, those Weight Watchers Smoothies are really feeling and they don’t taste bad.. Breakfast was 2 points

WIAWSnack

I was craving coffee bad, It was one of those days when you realize you were super busy and time went by faster than you expected and you actually missed lunch….. those are pretty rare for me, my stomach will always let me know when it’s time for food….So I just had a small coffee and a yogurt. My Snack was 3 Points

Subway has really become my “go-to” meal when I don’t want to cook or when I want “fast food” it doesn’t hurt that it’s right around the corner. So I had a six inch steal and cheese (yes I actually but cheese on my sandwich… but can you have a steak sammich without cheese? It just seems wrong), Baked Lays and a Diet Coke. Dinner was 14 points

Clearly you can tell that I didn’t have anything fancy today, but I will give myself extra points for not cooking a darn thing!

WIAWCalories

My general caloric intake is 1200 calories per day, and today I went  ate 854 calories, MyFitness Pal, actually gave me a “warning” telling me I wasn’t eating enough….. one day isn’t gonna hurt me.

I have 34 points  a day that I can consume, I ate 19 Points and had 15 left over (today was a fluke and it will never happen again)123

WIAWWater

The rule of thumb is that you are supposed to drink at least 8 and today I was able to get 8 cups, and lately that has been difficult for me to get in.

What I Ate Wednesday: That Little Hole in the Wall Diner

WIAW_thumb[2]

WIAWBreakfast

I went out for a super early lake front walk with my cousin and the plan was to grab breakfast after so I just had something because I knew I had to so I grabbed a peach and went on my way. Breakfast was 0 points

Because things never really turn out the way that you plan, Breakfast became lunch… and we ate at this hole in the wall diner that is like the size of my bedroom and had lunch, I was craving eggs (which seems to be the normal these days)  Lunch was 27 points (not sure how accurate that is, but I would rather go over in my points assumption that to guess to little)

II knew I had pretty much eaten up all of my points/ and calories at lunch so I went for something quick and simple, left over white rice and roasted seaweed, with a side of diet coke. Dinner was 8 points

WIAWCalories

My general caloric intake is 1200 calories per day, and today I went over my goal (what else is new?)by consuming 1,766 calories. Thank goodness for some physical activity I was able to “bump” that down to 1,395 calories.

I have 34 points  a day that I can consume, I ate all of those at used 4 of my Weekly Points, so it really wasn’t that bad. I “earned” some activity points, but didn’t calculate them that day because I was still upset that my FitBit was broken.12

Speaking of water, if you are having a hard time getting your water in I would suggest this cute like app called Plant Nanny it’s available for IPhone and Andriod

Tyra Takes On Weight Watchers : Week 24, 25 & 26

Fitness

Week 24

I think the word for this week would be frustration… utter frustration. after the past two weeks and the weight gain that I had I decided to divorce myself from the scale. It was becoming unhealthy, I was letting the number on the scale determine my mood, determine how I proceeded in Weight Watchers, so I walked into in high spirits, I don’t have a feeling either way about whether I was gonna gain or lose. So even after giving myself a pep talk the entire week, boosting myself up on the drive to Weight Watchers, I was utterly crushed on the scale…. and more than anything else I was frustrated…. another gain! A GAIN for three weeks in a row.

23

I sat in my set waiting for the meeting to start just thinking, “What the hell!?” I really had to be quiet and recoup then it hit me. This is part of the process, no one ever said that weight loss was a down hill slop, it’s hills and mountains…. and even on the weeks that you do EVERYTHING right the scale may now show. And I had to seriously remind myself of where I started.over 70 pounds (as of week 24) was off of my body. I did that! And I allowed myself to get caught up with what was going on at that moment and losing sight of the “Big Picture”

The topic for the meeting was “Chain Reactions: How Smart Steps and Lead to Others” I sat around for a while and seriously though “I’m in no position to write about anything this week” (I was still bitter and my 10 pounds in 3 weeks weight gain).

But then something happened….. I wanted coffee, so I decided to walk to the Dunkin’ Donuts that’s 1/2 block from my house, but instead of turning to go towards the DD I walked to other way…I walked a mile that day before I got coffee….. I was surprised by how okay I felt, how close it got my to my 10,000 step goal, so the next morning I woke up and did it again, this time I walked a little bit over a mile, the next day it was 2 , and the day after that it was a 2.5 miles, just around the neighborhood listening to my iPod. a simple thing led to a huge chain reaction without me even realizing.

Week 25

This week, like last week I walked into the meeting, feeling good; really good actually not because of anything in particular, after thinking about what happened last week, I left the meeting deciding to have a more positive outlook, and a few days before I saw something on Tumblr that really struck a cord with me

This week I want to continue to try to be active, although I was thrown a curveball because Chicago got a Spring storm and I wasn’t able to walk to neighborhood like I wanted to, I did however shovel the snow and burn around 350 calories, so that’s a win.

Week 25

Another loss this week! it’s wasn’t quite a pound, but a loss is a loss. This week I have been super active I worked out 5 days this week and did a 5K on Saturday, so I really wanted to weigh-in and see what my weight was doing, but it was Easter and Weight Watchers was closed, so I have to go to another meeting tomorrow evening, which totally messes with my schedule. I like to weigh-in first thing in the morning and eat (usually a smoothie) during the meeting. I’m gonna have two meals and a snack in my belly by the time  I weigh-in tomorrow ….ugh!

I have really been slacking on this part of the blog, but next week I will come back with stories, lessons and hopefully another loss…..wish me luck!

If you want to check out my journey so far: Week 1, Week 2, Week 3, Week 4, Week 5, Week 6, Week 7, Week 8, Week 9, Week 10, Week 11, Week 12, Week 13, Week 14, Week 15, Week 16, Week 17-20, Week 21, Week 22-23, Week 24, 25, 26, Week 27

Food for the Soul (and the Stomach)

Writing

Writing Prompt:Tell us about your favorite meal, either to eat or to prepare. Does it just taste great, or does it have other associations?

I love macaroni and cheese, seriously love it . I actually mentioned in in a pervious post, I don’t think there is a way to mess it up…. it’s good in all it’s varieties.  and given the chance I would eat it as often as possible. A week or so ago I was at the grocery store and I saw that they had a boxes of Kraft Macaroni and Cheese on sale, so I ran to buy it…for some reason not only macaroni was on my mind, macaroni and hot dogs, they idea od eating those two foods together (although I’m sure it would have thrown my Weight Watchers points all out of whackjust reminded me of comfort, and my childhood. so I causally asked my mother if she feed up hot dogs and mac and cheese…. and to my shock and awe she said she never did (at least not together) So why the heck would I associate this meal…. this yummy, cheesy, sodium filled bowl of goodness? Who knows, maybe I had it at a friends house and just don’t remember all I know… I consider this childhood in childhood in a bowl

Friend Making Monday: Food

Food

FMM-300x166

1. What is your favorite food dish? Macaroni and Cheese, honestly I don’t think there is a way that you can mess it up (well you could over cook the noodles) but any Mac and Cheese is good Mac and Cheese!

civil-war-macaroni-cheese

2. What is your favorite food type (Italian, Mexican, etc)? Mexican food

3. What is your favorite snack? Microwave popcorn

4. What do you usually eat for breakfast? This week I’ve been having this fantastic smoothie

  • strawberrybananablueberry_SGS0.50 cup(s), Blueberries – Raw
  • 0.50 cup(s), Strawberries – Raw
  • 1. cup(s), Spinach – Raw
  • 1. serving, Bananas – Raw
  • 0.75 cup, Orange juice – Raw

5. Do you eat your veggies?  What are your favorites? I do, and usually by breakfast I have my 5 a day in. I really love spinach, and broccoli (but have to limit those due to being on a bood thinner) carrots have been my go-to veggies (raw not cooked) that are easily portable and I often have a bag with me when I’m going on. I’ve been eating a lot of okra lately as well.

6. What is your favorite junk food/guilty pleasure? Chinese food

7. Do you cook most/all of your own food? I do because not only is it saving me money, but I know exactly what I’m eating and so it’s easier for me to calculate my Weight Watchers points. I also pre-make my dinners at the beginning of the week so there is no guessing on what’s for dinner, on a really successful well, all of my meals are planned out.

8. Are you vegetarian or vegan?  If not, have you ever considered or tried it?  No

9. If you eat meat, do you eat red meat, and if you do, how do you like it cooked? I eat a lot of chicken, turkey and fish, I’ve never really been a big fan of beef. I’ll eat it any way except for deep fried (and man do I miss it)

no_beef_logo

10. Is there a food or a dish that you have always wanted to try and is there a reason you haven’t tried it yet? I have never really been a fan of seafood, and a month ago I tried crab for the first time, and shocking I really enjoyed it (I actually think it was around the time that I tried sushi for the first time as well, and I really liked that as well)
