Last week I wore a lovely pink polish from I Love Nail Polish, and although I didn’t get a full week out of it like I normally do out of the polishes that I wear, my time with it was brutal cut short when I decided (after much deliberation) that it was time to cut my nails. Removal was a breeze, I didn’t have any issues with the nail polish staining my fingers or my nails. I seriously hated having to take it off and /I almost… almost decided not to do a NPLC this week, just because I loved it so much.

Vacation Time is a pretty dusty rose brown creame. In the bottle i wasn’t really impressed or wow’ed by the color, but on the nail i thought it was really flattering, this particular polish fits two themes, it’s great for the fall AND it’s (somewhat) pink so it fits in with the pink nails for October theme  I have going on at the moment. before I get to the color let me say that I purchased this polish before I looked at the name, but I figured with a name like that it would a bright color, maybe something that 20141015_100201evokes a tropical island vacation. I picked up this polish, looked at it and put it down and went about my shopping, then came back and put it in my cart. This is defiantly not the type of color that I would seek out. When I looked at it I instantly thought of my grandmother, when she wore nail polish it was always a dusty rose shade, and maybe that’s why I picked it up… nostalgia, and honestly the color has been growing on me.

These colors look great on people with warmer and/or darker skin tones.. The formula is thin, but builds nicely to a streak-free finish in two coats. I think it’s called Vacation Time because it’s a work-friendly polish color. I imagine staring at my nails after a hard week at work and thinking. And I also put this color on my toe nails so that proves how much I like this color, I’ve been reading what others have thought about this particular polish and a one of the mentioned that the color was nothing like the color in the bottle, when I found to be very confusing because the picture is very much exactly like it is in the bottle perhaps the bottle that blogger used as old…who knows nail polish is a funny thing.

Capture

This is a great color, and if you can’t find this particular polish search from a very close dupe is Pure Ice’s Envy . And the best part is both brands are inexpensive so frugal fashionistas won’t have an issue with this splurge. Pure Ice polish’s normal retail for $1.97. Or is you are looking for something with a higher price point I would suggest OPI’s Barefoot in Barcelona.

dupe

Even though it’s only Tuesday, it’s been a busy week and I haven’t been able to wrangle Tsuki to take a picture  with this week’s pick… so for your viewing enjoyment you’ll get derpy Tsuki. I like this polish for I’m gonna give it a 8 out of 10. I think this is a versatile polish that can go far in my collection.

Sinful Color’s Vacation Time retails for $1.99.

Last week I wore Essie’s Marshmallow, and although I’m still super disappointed that it was my perfect polish it was still a breeze to come off.. my feelings are still hurt about this polish …so I don’t want to talk about it.

I know that these post normally come out on Tuesday’s but real life happened and post procedure pain kept me drugged up and in bed and doing my nails was the very last thing on my mind…. but I

1Bikini Bottoms, an awesome in-your-face bright magenta pink holo with a bit of blue shimmer. I’m a pink girl at heart, so of course I had to show you this beauty! I love love Bikini Bottoms. The holo in this is much better than what showed up for the photos. Did I mention I love it?I loved this, purchased it, forgot about it for months and months then found it and fell in love again. This polish looks great EVERYWHERE, in the shade, in the sunlight, in the shower…everywhere. I always gets load and loads of complements when I wear this brand of polish (and always direct them where to go when they asked where I got it)

20141003_175031

I have been very vocal about this brand because everything is so easy, the ordering, the the quick shipments, to the application and the removal I have never had a problem with this brand. Two good even coats and your favorite top coat and your done and ready to sparkle. This particular polish looks much deeper in low light, but it’s a stunner nonetheless.

This polish is an absolute gem and I have absolutely nothing bad to say about the color what’s so ever. Bikini Bottoms get’s top scores with 10 out of 10! If you don’t own this polish, head on over the the website and get it you won’t be sorry. I will especially treasure this as ILNP is going through major redesigns as well as bottle design (and I’m excited about the new direction that Barbara is taking her company, so now really is the time if you want it in the “classic bottle with the old logo.

shimmer

Tsuki, as  documented on this blog LOVES pink and she literally grabbed it and refused to let it go, she held on to it like it was her little baby, and I totally understand I nearly had a heart attack when the bottle fell on the floor, so I had to snap her as is… she wouldn’t even look me in the eye (she knew she was doing wrong)… if you look closely you can see her fuzzy pink ball that she always has with her.

Bikini Bottoms retails for $10.00.

Last week I wore which was a perfect shade for autumn, seems almost fortuitous that I for a Mariah Carey polish considering all the publicity she’s getting for her Tone Deaf Tokyo Tour….Elusive Chanteuse Show and the fact that she can’t hit a note… but we are not talking about her performance (which is a hot mess) but we are talking about the polish….the removal process was super easy and it took less time than it usually does, and I think that has to do with new nail polish remover I’ve been using, but I didn’t experience any staining which is always a plus.

nail border

20140925_151433“Marshmallow is a cloudy sheer white, perfect for a French manicure.” well at least according to Essie, and honestly I tend to agree.. I love white, but honestly I tend to use it was a base or only for nail art… but this is the perfect standalone white polish. Generally when I use a white polish the application is streaky and it’s filled with problems and I either give up half way through or not happy with the overall appearance (it either looks lumpy, or it’s  mega white and nearly blinding).

I had heard a lot of good things on a nail polish group that I’m on and with my previous issues finding the “right white” I figured it wasn’t gonna hurt anything but my wallet to give this one a try. I got to Ulta and I wasn’t able to find it, after talking to store associate she was not only able to locate it but she pointed out the20140925_151447 super bargain bin… I was able to get China Glazes for 99 cents….she is my new favorite person at Ulta…. seriously. So I get this polish and I’m super excited about it. I wanted to try it out immediately but I was wearing another polish that I was smitten with and didn’t want to remove at the time.

But finally the time has come wear it and to tell my reader how I feel about it. Marshmallow Is a milky “jelly” white crème, no shimmer. For the most part I don’t have any issues with Essie polishes, but my major concern about this polish was that it was so thin and it took 3 coats to get about 80% opacity. Because you are applying three sometimes four coats it takes a while for the nail polish to dry. After being extremely careful after painting my nails and waiting 3 hours to go to bed I woke up to find that I hand imprints in the polish… which was extremely disappointing; after two coats of topcoat the “imperfections” were barely noticeable, but the experience  left a sour taste in my mouth. After doing a bit of research a lot of people complain about the lighter shades being thin. This puts me in between a rock and a hard place because on one hand I didn’t enjoy previous white nail polishes because the formulas were thick and now I’m complaining that this polish is too thin….what’s a girl to do?3

This is a nice color, I’ll admit that. But if you look online the color if this polish varies a lot depending on the light . One blogger called it, “taupe colored neutral”. So my search for the perfect white continues next white that I’ll be trying is OPI’s Funny Bunny which is an exact dupe or perhaps My Vampire is Buff… but I’m hoping the formula is better…which me luck!

Tsuki being a feline supermodel gave one her her best poses to date…no word on her thoughts on this polish… but it sure does match the background well. As for me,  I have a serious love/ hate relationship with this polish for in fairness it get’s a middle of the road 5 out of 10. What’s your go-to white nail polish?

Essie’s Marshmallow retails for $8.50.

Last week I wore that really cute pink from Orly, because then nail polish was pigmented I was a little concerned that the polish was gonna stain, but it didn’t and it only enforces my love for this polish, ( and just like I said last week)  I loved it… I really liked it, and to be honest I hate taking it off. Since this was a crème polish I had no real issues removing this polish. I can’t wait until my next trip to Sally’s or Ulta… I’m defiantly gonna be wearing this one often, nail border

Never in the history of NPLC have I ever made a grown so freakin’ audible that even I wondered if I was gonna post this… and it all steams from two words MARIAH CAREY! As an artist I think she derserves all the accolades that she’s been given, but just as a human being I think she might be a little nuts.

20140923_191157I think it’s clear that I’m not a fan of her, but we aren’t here to talk abut her crazy nutty antics where here to talk nail polish so here we go….

I got this nail polish as a two-pack at Marshalls, and (because the other was) I assumed this one would be textured as well, but I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t (I ‘m not a big fan of textured polish) and I was really excited about the color because it’s the exact color when I think of the changing leaves.

OPI Sprung is a , coppery, gold glass flecky in a reddish copper base (and it seems like there is a little bit of fuchsia put in it) It’s weird (at least for me) that this polish is a foil  and a shimmer at  the same time. The one thing that I noticed was that this show is super sheer, but it’s completely buildable I was able in 3 coats, I think more than anything I was surprised about how quickly the polished dried and how much shine the polish had. But even after 3 coats I still had visible nail lines and that annoys the hell out of me. The collection includes  eight shades, four of them being a new liquid sands.
All last week I kept seeing fall themed manicures, and this one would be perfect for leaves (color wise)… but I don’t that this would be a a good polish to use for nail art because it’s so thin. This polish is lookvery similar to another OPI Polish  Warm & Fozzie , which doesn’t have as much a pink undertone as this one, but could totally be used if you couldn’t find this one.

When I was looking online at other nail bloggers swatches, I noticed that this particular polish looks good on pretty much all skin tones. As you can tell from the picture the color on the nail  is pretty much exact to the color in the bottle.

20140923_191205I will admit that  I didn’t not want to like this polish, honestly I try to avoid all things Mariah, BUT maybe It was cooler fall air, or maybe I am seriously generous, but I did like this colors despite some of the issues that I had with the polish (the formula being too thin, the visible nail lines, and the chipping on Day 2 of wear) this polish get’s a score of 7 out of 10. I’m gonna try this polish one more time and see if a different base coat and more layers of polish (honestly 3 is my limit) and a good top coat will make a difference.

Tsuki really took to this polish, I think because it was so shiny, I literally had to take it from her….

Until Next Time… enjoy the dulcet tones of  (wait that’s not right…..) Mariah Carey

Last week I wore this great Mauve shade from Sinful Colors,  I loved it… I really liked it, and to be honest I hate taking it off. Since this was a crème polish I had no real issues removing this polish. I made sure to wear a really good topcoat and the manicure lasted all week, with very little tip wear.  I will defiantly be wearing this polish soon!nail border

This polish was a spurge by that I found at Marshalls, it was actually a mini that was in a package of four which included; Pixie Powder, Teal Unreal and Angel Rain (Which is four of the six colors in the 2013 Surreal Collection.

“Your daydream leads you down a path to an extraordinary pink waterfall. Soak it in.” I have no idea what the hell Orly was talking it about because it does not make a bit of sense to me….who comes up with this stuff?  This is your classic bubble gum pink, so without a doubt you’re gonna feel ultra girly wearing it. Apparently its was a collection that debuted last fall, which was a but showing to me, because I don’t look at these colors and thing of fall at all… if anything I would think this was a spring collection; but pink works anytime of the year in my opinion. This particular polish is very pigmented which is something that I’m not used to when it comes to these shades of pinks, thus it makes the formula a little bit thicker than what I would prefer, the application of the first coat was a bit touchy, but it all evened out by the time that the second coat was applied.

When you have a darker skin tone like I do pinks tend to be a little bit tricky (and I tendmini to lean towards darker pinks), but since this on had a blue tone (it almost looked a bit lavender in some lights) this one worked well for me. I loved this color so much I was singing Aqua’s Barbie Girl when I was applying it. If I was presented with the opportunity to purchase a large bottle I don’t think that I would simply based on the appearance, but now I totally think that I will (After I applied my manicure I dropped the bottle and all f the polish spilled out, the scream that escaped my mother was animalistic….)  So as soon as I can I’m going on to get another bottle. Another thing that I noticed on this polish was the nice sheen that it had after I applied it, the only reason I added a topcoat was because I used some born pretty water decals and I wanted to seal them.

20140904_142608I really do like wearing a nail polish that changes my first impression of it. Although it took a long time for me to pick and wear something like this, but I think it was well worth the wait. Despite the fact that the formula was thick I was still about to get the desired look in two coats, although great for someone like me who want to “try out” a color, these tiny bottles are a bit cumbersome and I guess that’s why I dropped the little sucker.. Although this polis wasn’t perfect. I still really liked it and thought that it looked really good on my nails (I got a lot of compliments on my nails…which always raisers the score here… so this eye catching number gets a 8 out of 10!

As regular readers know that “Princess” Tsuki doesn’t take pictures with mini bottles of polish, she thinks it’s beneath her. But she’s a fan a bright colors and allowed me to photograph her while she was in a playful mode…her color is somewhat similar to Pink Waterfall.Pink Waterfall retails for $8.50 and the Decals were $.99 at Born Pretty.
