Friend Makin Monday: Favorite Things

tumblr_muqt2pDTxi1rnmtj4o1_500Happy Monday everyone! After spending a glorious weekend enjoying the weather, reality came down and smacked up across the back of our heads with rain and temperature’s in the 40’s Sunday evening… where it stayed/ and continue to stay for the next couple of say… let me just tell you how is it possible in a matter of days that the temperate drops 40 degrees  …. you know someone had the nerve to say something about snow? I mean seriously . This past weekend I took out all the storm windows,  open the doors and the windows and allowed the spring air to flow through the house, and someone had the nerve to say, “we might get some snow on Monday” That is information that they could have kept to themselves. I don’t plan to see anymore snow until the end of November …. at least! Now that I’ve gotten that off of my chest…. let’s get to the questions

If you’ve taken part in FMM then you know the rules. If you’re new, please take a moment to answer this week’s question on your own blog then add your link in the comments here as well as over at  Losing Weight and Having Fun so we can all see your FMM questions and answers.  The idea is to connect with other awesome bloggers so take a moment to post your own FMM post and comment on a couple of other posts. Now it’s time for this week’s topic! his week the questions come to you from Stephanie who blogs over at Athlete at Heart

Favorite Things

1. Favorite color? (be specific… what shade of blue/green/red etc)43127706fd16cf366639a07e7d1e6ca1

My favorite color is pink…. love pink, but I’m also partial to the color blue, it reminds me of my mother, but to be more specific I love Tiffany Blue, I think it’s the perfect blue… it reminds me of warmer summers, the Caribbean and iced drinks…I love this color so much, I have several bottles of this shade in nail polishes, my personal favorite is China Glaze’s “For Audrey”

2. Favorite piece of clothing you own?

Right now I don’t have a favorite item of clothing, it’s rough because I sort of afraid to buy clothing because I want to lose more weight, and my old clothes are sort of frumpy… but one thing that I do buy and enjoy… shoes! I just recently purchased a pair of leopard print sneakers….. YES!

3. Favorite smartphone app?

It really changes depending on my mood, but I was at the cancer center the other day and I was looking for something to do. And I found this Canasta app, I’m playing Canasta all day long.. I have it on my phone AND it I have it on the Kindle, I’m addicted.

4. Favorite city?

I love my city Chicago, it’s not a perfect city by any means, but for me right now it’s exactly what I need it’s really is a big city with a ton of little neighborhood… so you kind of get the small town sensibility. I’ve said it many times, but this is a city that really shines in the summer… so many things to do …so many festivals to go to.

5. Favorite strength training exercise?

One the days that I don’t go to the gym I get on the elliptical machine at home and I use my Sworkit app. And do a lot of the stretching/strength/yoga exercises… I love it and it’s great when you are traveling and don’t have access to a gym… and it’s FREE…you know I love free!

6. Favorite vegetable?

My favorite vegetable’s are broccoli and spinach. I have been known to sit and eat an entire head of raw broccoli…. it’s great… although I wouldn’t say the after effects are all that spectacular.

7. Favorite hair product? (shampoo, styling, conditioner etc)

CaptureI really like Wen hair products, they are a bit expensive but from my perspective it’s worth it. Due to my various medical issues I try to very gentle on my hair and I love Sulfate –Free hair products, but with the massive hair loss that occurred a few weeks ago (yep… you can thank the Multiple Myeloma for that one) I won’t have much hair for a while…which is why I’m emotionally preparing myself to get it all shaved off …. so then I would say my new favorite is gonna be the various (fabulous ) head scarfs I’m gonna be rocking until I am able to grown it back.

8. Favorite animal?

Seriously? My baby girl Tsuki! I think this is the 3rd week that I’ve posted pictures of FMM…I love my Tsuki Monster Smile

Tsuki Collage

9. Favorite superhero?

I have always bee a fan of Wonder Woman! I mean come on people….Princess Diana of Themyscira. When outside her homeland goes incognito, with her secret identity Diana Prince. She is gifted with a wide range of superhuman powers and superior combat and battle skills. She possesses an arsenal of weapons, including the Lasso of Truth. She’s fabulous..

10. Favorite recipe? (share the details with us)

I have lots of favorite recipes, but I am really partial to recipes that are quick and easy; and with the warmer weather coming, turning on the oven is not (and it’s not diet friendly)

Chocolate Peanut Butter No-Bake Dessert

I’m really excited about reading everyone’s responses this week, I always love swapping recipes with people.

Until Next Time!

FMM–Almost Spring

Almost Spring

As winter turns the corner
And spring is on the way
I wait with mounting happiness
To see what comes today.

I also love the cold days
With frost upon the sill
But something special happens
Once winter’s had its fill.

The crocus buds are swollen
The daffodils sprout so tall
Something special happens
As spring time makes its call.

So get ready for the changes
That happen none too soon
When spring time rounds that corner
And flowers start to bloom!

Marilyn Lott What do you love most about Spring? For me Spring signals are renewal for me, all the dead things are washed away and life begins to flourish. I always like to use the Spring as a time when I refocus myself on my goals and re-energize myself.  Have you ever noticed that Spring has it’s own scent? After a really heavy rain it’s like you can actually smell life…. you can smell the grass and the mud and the rain has this crazy strong scent… I love it!

If you’re lucky enough to have a Spring Break, what will you do to enjoy it? This spring will be used for traveling and visiting friends out of town, I keep putting it off, so that’s defiantly a priority once the weather turns

Do you have a garden?  If so, what do you grow? I do have garden, the house that I live in previous owners planted roses and peonies, so every spring and summer I get a little burst of color in the backyard . But I do love gardening, and would love to a  small vegetable patch 547507_10150796938995995_1211604512_n
Share one thing that you hope to accomplish during Spring.  I have a few little craft projects that I would like to complete. Hopefully the doctor will give me the okay to start exercising again…so O can start training for my upcoming 5Ks. I also started a photo challenge and hopefully I can complete that as well….but the major thing is I want to figure out how to use this movie editor and up load my videos on to Youtube, yesterday I  eluded to the fact that this FMM post would be a little different…. well that was a fail, after spending much other morning trying to figure it out, it just wasn’t happening…

Do you do Spring cleaning?  Yes, on my bedroom! I clean out the closets and put away the winter clothes and d swap them out for the spring/summer ones. This is generally the time of your were I will either redecorate or move stuff around in my bedroom. I’m just purchased a new comforter set, so I’m really excited about that.

What is your weather *really* like right now? {Just b/c it’s almost Spring, doesn’t mean that it feels like it for some of you.}  It’s gonna be a while for Spring hits the Chicago areaweather

Share one photo that you’ve taken during the month of March.  This was a snapshot taken when I was Skyping with a friend yesterday….. not a photoCapture per se…. but  it’s only been 4 days in the month…. slim pickings (I look really odd in that photo…wow)
What’s your favorite thing to do on a sunny afternoon? Probably take a really long walk around the neighborhood.

If you could spend the day doing anything in your city, what would you do?  Chicago is such a great city to live in during the spring/summer months, I think if I had a day I would hang out the Museum campus and check out all the great exhibits….that would defiantly take a couple of days

Until Next Time!
