Capture

1. What is your favorite form of exercise and why? I really like the elliptical machine, I think that it’s a total workout like running, but without all the strain on the knees. But I think my favorite is probably walking…it’s easy, it’s free, and you already know how to do it

2. How did you get started with your favorite form of exercise? well I started walking a little before I turned 1….when I first started I fell a the time and a lot of times when I fell on my butt I cried, but as I get older I got better and better, not I consider myself to be an expert walker.

3. What is your favorite thing about your favorite exercise? I can wear what I want… I can do it forward and backwards…. and sometimes (get this guys) I do it in my sleep sometimes!

4. Does your favorite exercise offer any type of competition? If so have you taken part in one? None, I’m not sure my hips could take it

5. How old were you when you started your favorite form of exercise or how long have you been doing it for? See question #2

6. Is there a form of exercise that you have never tried that you really want to? What and Why? Although I’ve tried it, I would really like to get into yoga

7. Do you plan vacations around your favorite exercise? Not really, but when I go some place new I like to walk around the area and checking out the sights.

8. Does your favorite exercise have it’s own elites? Who are your favorites? YES! The Hugo Elite Adult Walker… wait you weren’t talking about that were you?

9. How does participating in your favorite exercise make you feel? At this point I do it even when I don’t want to, something I feel refreshed, sometimes I’m super tired, sometimes I’m hurting…. all depends on what

10. Do you see yourself doing this exercise for the rest of your life (or until you are physically able to) For sure!

I just want to say that I’m sorry in advance if something things I was being flippant with my answers, but the fact it I chose an answer and had to stick with it not knowing every subsequent question would have to do with the very first answer. So I hope that some f my answers made me smile and gave you a little giggle.

1. If you were given $10,000 and told you could donate it to a single charity of your choosing, what charity would you choose?

5,000 would go to the American Live Foundation and the other half would be donated Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation. But damn it… I just realized that I don’t have an imaginary money left…. screw it I’m gonna pretend that said 15,000..  because 5,000 would defiantly go to Hyde Park Cats; which is a wonderful organization that rescues cats, places them into foster homes, provides medical care and find forever homes for cats. I found my baby Tsuki there…and if you can’t tell she’s quite the diva

2. If you were given $10,000 to spend on yourself (not to treat others or give away), what would you buy?.

I would pay off some bills and then I would use the money for an apartment and new furniture. I know it’s so boring,… but it’s my imaginary 10,000 and ….I can spend it the way that I want to

3. Toilet paper (or loo roll as we say in England) do you have it hanging over or under on the roll?

I think it’s currently under and honestly I don’t care… if it wipes then I’m using it…. it only becomes a problem unless I’m sitting and there is only 2 squares left on the roll, or God forbid there is no tissue left on the roll at all.

4. When you drink your water do you like it plain or with a slice of fruit?

I’m at home so I can’t stand to be fancy. I save my fanciness when I go out to restaurants…. then I request lemon with my water..

5. Are you left handed, right handed or ambidextrous?

Right handed, and this might come as a surprise I hate ambidextrous people…. those amazing freaks! (I’m kidding)

6. Thinking of the amazing Robin Williams who passed away this week :( What is your favorite Robin Williams movie?

First of all I was incredibly sad to hear about his passing. Depression is a major issue; one that I’ve dealt with in the pass, so that someone was suffering to the point where they felt like killing themselves was the only option left. Personally I have lost two people to suicide and a family member recently tried to kill himself, so I always am left feeling with an heavy burden and deep sadness when I hear something like that. Depression can happen to anyone, and more often than not we know someone who suffers from depression. I would encourage everyone to educate themselves….

But back to the subject at hand my favorite Robin Williams movie (and it’s somewhat ironic considering the subject matter) The plot centers on Chris, a man who dies then goes to Heaven, but descends into Hell to rescue his wife who commits suicide. The movie is based on the book by Richard Matheson. Robin Williams will always be known as a comic genius, but I will always think that he shines in his dramatic roles.

7. Do you prefer cow’s milk or a different kind of milk?

I stop drinking cow’s milk years ago due to lactose intolerance… I was drinking soy for a long time, but my doctor recommended I stop drinking it do to medication I was taking… now I’m drinking Almond milk… and to be honest I love it more that I did Soy and Cow’s milk….guess it almond doesn’t work out for m I’ll be drinking coconut milk.

8. Do you prefer to read an actual book or on an electronic device?

I feel so bad that I’m saying that. but I use my Kindle more for games then reading, but at this point it’s more half and half… I do find it super handy  because it’s so light weight… I just started rewatching Lost and my kindle is useless. I defiantly need to read the book when I need to refer to something… and this book is a behemoth.

9. Oatmeal – hot or cold?

Hot, like Sarah said you can make overnight oats, but I just assumed that you had to reheat them. I am making myself love oatmeal… I don’t think I could eat it cold… oatmeal has this tendencies of becoming brick like, and I don’t have the time, patience, or mental fortitude to deal with cold , brick-like oatmeal

10. Pies – sweet or savory?

I will eat a pie…. a meat pie, a fruit, pie, a custard pie… I will eat it. I do not discriminate when it comes to pie….

Pie….

Until Next Time….

Friend Makin’ Mondays: ?

Friend Makin’ Mondays: ?

If you’ve taken part in FMM then you know the rules. If you’re new, please take a moment to answer this week’s question on your own blog then add your link in the comments section here at: www.alltheweigh.com so we can all see your FMM questions and answers. Please invite your blog readers to add their links here too so everyone has to opportunity to be seen. The idea is to connect with other awesome bloggers so take a moment to post your own FMM post and comment on a couple of other posts. Now it’s time for this week’s topic!

1.  What has been your happiest moment in 2014 so far?  My motto this year is , “Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year” (Ralph Waldo Emerson) So if everyday is my best day, then I’m happy..

2. Share the last compliment you received. You have a nice smile, so there is a story here: This random guy sent me a message on Facebook telling me I had a nice smile, then proceed to send me a picture of his penis. Needless to say I did a little investigation and found out he was dating someone (all from his profile) and sent her a little note with a screen shot of the messages that he sent me, and reported him on Facebook and blocked him…. maybe I shouldn’t count that as a compliment….lol

3.  What is one thing that you plan to accomplish in the next week? The goal is to walk 50 miles this week

4.  What is your favorite TV show currently on air? Downton Abbey

5.  If you could go anywhere in the world free for the next two weeks, where you go?  Someplace warm, today we had a wind chill of –37 degrees…. and place with a temperature of 50 degrees is fine with me.

6.  Describe a significant event in your life that caused you to change your values system.  Being 19 years old and having a doctor tell you, “You need a liver transplant, and if you don’t get one you will be dead in a year” I have an autoimmune disease where my immune system sees my liver as a foreign object and attacks it. I thought I was being punished because of something I had done (I mean come on… who’s own body attacks and kills itself from within?) I cried and I prayed to God to heal me and keep my family safe.  I remember saying that if this was what I had to go through to keep my family safe and healthy I would do it. I’ve always said you change, you can’t come out of something like that without changing.

7.  What made you decide to live where you currently live? I wanted to be closer to my mother, although I lived a little over 100 miles from her, it’s extremely comforting to be 15 minutes away and invite myself over to dinner, or chill out on her couch and have conversations with her about nothing important

8.  What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think about GOD? Gratefulness. I’ve been close to death and critically ill more times that I care to mention. You don’t come out of situations for an appreciation for a higher power and gratefulness that you have been blessed to live another day.

9.  If you could have a long conversation with someone famous (and alive now) who would you choose?  Lizzie Borden (I know that it sounds odd to most of you) I have always been fascinated with her story, and I really want to know what happened the day her father and step-mother were killed. Was she really innocent?

10.  List three things that you’re thankful for today.

  • My family and friends who love me and stick by me, even during the times when I’m not so lovable
  • A warm, safe place home (my thoughts are with those who are homeless and on the streets during this dangerous, cold weather Chicago is having)
  • My brother for shoveling out a path for my car

So here is my first FMM for 2014, I’m glad that it’s back, and I look forward to the changes that Kenlie is making to her website and FMM. So I highly encourage you to stop by her site, until next week

Pistachio Cake

If you’ve taken part in FMM then you know the rules. If you’re new, please take a moment to answer this week’s question on your own blog then add your link in the comments  as well as in the comments section at: www.alltheweigh.com so we can all see your FMM questions and answers. Good Times! Let’s Get Started……

A few years ago a co-worker of my mother brought this cake to a holiday party, my brought a few slices home and we all loved it, so I asked her to get the recipe, ever since then this has been a staple of our for the holidays. But it’s such a good, light treat it really shouldn’t be limited to just the holiday season.

  • 1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix                                                                                                                images
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 (3 ounce) package instant pistachio pudding mix
  • 1 cup Chopped Walnuts

  1. Preheat oven to 350°. Grease and flour a 10-in. fluted tube pan (I prefer to use a Bundt cake pan)
  2. In a large bowl, combine the first five ingredients; beat on low speed 30 seconds. Beat on medium 2 minutes. Fold in walnuts. Transfer to prepared pan. Bake 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan 10 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.

I love this recipes it’s so quick and easy and it’s a perfect recipe for a novice baker. Another thing is that this recipe is customizable… if nuts aren’t you’re thing you can eliminate them, you can add icing if you like, some people opt to add a bit of sugar to make it a little but sweeter and some people add a bit of food coloring to give it a strong green color, but like I said I like to keep things simple and quick and I love recipes that are easy to remember.

For those you who would prefer frosting….

  • 1 package (3.4 ounces) instant pistachio pudding mix
  • 1 cup 2% milk
  • 1 carton (8 ounces) frozen whipped topping, thawed

This recipe yields 12 slices… and my version of the recipe is roughly 151 calories

If you try this recipe I hope you enjoy… and if you’re a regular reader of my blog and looking to make something different for the holiday season, now is the prefect time to head over to All The Weigh and find some new recipes..

Happy Monday!
