Music Monday: Call Me Baby

 

 

So last week I took a hiatus, for the very same reason I almost took a hiatus last week…. EXO had their comeback! First I was all in to the Pathcodes, then SM decided to release not one but two songs before the album was released then YG finally tells us the BigBang will be back next month, THEN I get the news that both BTS AND Got7 will be in Chicago this May. My poor K-Pop loving heart couldn’t take all the excitement couldn’t take it. There is nothing that I can say about this song that hasn’t been already said… so watch it … love it. And technically I really shouldn’t be writing about Exo since my last MM was Exo. But it’s what I’m listening to (as well as my new ringtone)

But I will say that this song really took me back, I have been a fan of Teddy Riley for a LONG time (I’m showing my age) first it was Guy  then Blackstreet (crap now I wanna go find my old CD’s) (I wasn’t a huge fan of  Wreckx-n-Effect,  although I did really like “Rump Shaker”)

I don’t know why but I feel like they haven’t bathed when watching the video, and I REALLY can’t get with Kai’s white suit And I think it (which he wore again during the M Countdown. And I think it’s safe to say that Tao has the longest arm pit hair I have seen in a long time.

Music Monday: Overdose

Talk about another case of “Too Many Dicks on the Dance Floor”. Let’s get this right out of the way (for those who don’t know) In the beginning there were 12…. then there were 11 now there are 10 (since October 2014, which consists of 8 Korean and 2 Chinese members) . Separated into two sub-groups EXO-M (primarily promotes in China and has a Mandarin language album) and EXO-K (promotes in Korea), with a Korean language album). This week’s pick is a label-mate of last week’s pick, which I I’m starting to seriously think that SM love to overwhelm audiences  with lots of people on the stage (translation Bias Wreckers).

How did I fall down the rabbit hole that Exo? It’s simple, I started watching Roommate’s on Hulu and I really enjoyed it and after a while I became very curious about the musicians on the show. At first I decided to commit myself to just one song (which is Overdose) and I tore that song up… at least 30 times a day…. I loved it. .Seriously on those days when I had 8,000 steps and was ready to go to bed I would play these a few times and my 10,00 step goal was completed. I think what prompted me to download the entire mini album was, I might be missing out.  Knowing what I know now I should have stuck with that one song and left it there, let’s just say I have all the albums (and I fell no shame .. NONE)

 

To be honest I would have preferred for another song to pop up, because EXO has been EVERWHERE. from their five recent concerts  to their comeback and those damn teasers…It’s a lot for a fan to deal with…. those teasers are killing me (I haven’t even dealt with Sehun’s…. I’m still recovering from Xiumin’s (I’m rational adult, what is happening to me?). But tis life and we can’t always get what we want.

Watching these videos brings back memories I remember (as a new fan) being confused by the two versions, about why there were so many people in the group. I distinctly remember asking myself out loud… “Why are they in a  maze?”, “What the hell is with the dirt” , “Who can tell them apart?”, “When did bucket hats come back?”  and most importantly, “Why is this dude  on the ground with a white suit on?” (that part still bothers me)… and while talking about things that bother me, how is it possible for them to sing the saddest Christmas song ever? (You don’t have enough my my feels?)

When do they sleep, every time I turn around that are at the airport going somewhere, so starring in a new movie, life as an idol is rough, I couldn’t do it, hell sometimes getting out of bed to go to the bathroom is too much for me…

In exactly one week the new album comes out…..and I don’t care what you say ”Call Me Baby”, will forever me known (in my heart) as “Call Me Daddy”, and I will sing it as such…. that’s all!

Music Monday: Sexy Free & Single

 

 

Not gonna lie when I first saw Super Junior the first thing that popped in my head was the song by Flight of the Conchords “Too Many Dicks on the Dance Floor” And without being a fan of K-Pop I had heard of them in passing but my initial thought was , “Hell it’s too many, how do people learn their names?” then of course there is the possibility of more than one looking similar or having a similar name then I’m really screwed up. There are 10 of them… 10!!! (Actually I’m not even sure about that, the number changes every year)I’m not even counting the two extra fuckers from Super Junior M. How big is the damn stage?

I remember when I first got into K-Pop, I was always amazed how companies would come out with these groups that were literally the size of a small class room.. well know I know. It’s more marketable. The more members you have the more sub-units you can have in this case: Super Junior K.R.Y, Super Junior T, Super Junior M, Super Junior H, and Donghae & Eunhyuk (Super Junior D & E). Plus you have to account for members doing other stuff and not being active in the group and let’s not forget compulsory military service.. which can’t be avoided…. well it could be that’s another post for another day.

So how did I get into these jerks.. believe me it’s purely by accident. I kept seeing members on shows not having a clue who they were. First it was that damn Choi Si-won (I’m a little angry here…) on The King of Dramas, then here comes that jerk Kangin on Global Request Show – A Song For You still didn’t have a clue and connect the dots…. it was not until I watched.that sassy mutherfucker Kim Hee-chul on We Got Married: Global Edition and I kept thinking (I know him from somewhere) now here’s the kicker it wasn’t until I saw the episode where they got to SM Entertainment and bring chocolates to Henry (that thirsty ass. I swear him and Jackson together hitting on girls would be hilarious) and Zhou Mi (who clearly was feeling the second-hand embarrassment)..

So I casually mentioned to a friend that I though (in my mind) that they were “stalking me” and she laughs and gives me the Super Junior World Tour Super Show 4 and Mamacita albums (why did you do that…. why?) And knowing me I had to get more. which is how I ended up with the Sexy Free and Single Album.

If you’re gonna name your album your title track better be damn good, cause on the name alone I decided, “this is gonna be my jam AND my freakin’ theme song”

 

So with any K-Pop song there is bound to be some confusion…. I even posted about it on my Facebook .. FYI: I’m still singing “my lyrics” I dare you to tell me I’m wrong.

I still maintain my stance that there are too many dicks on the dance floor… only now I’m enjoy it a little more
