Nail Polish Lottery Club – Week 81

The removal process of last week’s pick was a breeze. I love Zoya polishes, so easy to remove, no fuss, no muss. I’m getting to the point where the entire experience from application to removal really determines whether I will buy more of a particular brand.

20140711_143047Wide Awake is described as a light pink scattered holographic polish with hints of different colors reflected in the light (a hot pink ‘flash’). It looks amazing by itself or layered over other colors, but today I will be wearing this all alone. Different Dimension was the very first indie nail polish that I purchased, so the brand and the maker have a very dear place in my heart along with feeding my nail polish addiction. As you can see from the bottle I got one of the mini bottles just to see if I liked the color and I never got around to using it (I purchased 3 mini bottles from her “Set It Free” collection, and I’m sure that they are over a year old) I guess those mini bottles got lost in the fray; but never the less they finally are on my nails…. where they belong.

Wide Awake is one of those polish that changes depending on the light, but that’s what you get20140711_143003 when you are wearing a holo. I picked up the bottle and I thought, “ooh I didn’t know that I had a nude holo” but it wasn’t until it was on my nails and I was in the sunlight when I realized it was more of an icy pink shade. This nail polish is a bit on the thin side, so it’s recommended that you use three coats, you can also use this over your favorite nail polish(I would recommend either black or white polish) for an entirely different look. If you look really close at the polish you can get a glimpse of the hot pink “flash” (Man was this a hard polish to photograph)

The thing that I liked to most about this polish was the shimmer . I love a shimmer and shine with my nail polish, and I got both in tall orders with this polish. Wearing this polish reminds me that I don’t own or wear enough holo polishes, I guess that’s why I recently purchased 4 new holo polishes. I got a lot of compliments on my nails, I know that this will only make 20140711_143013sense to me, but this is the perfect polish when I need my nail color to be low key, but still have a  bit of “bling” to it.

This bottle that I had was so tiny Tsuki wouldn’t even take a picture with it… I say this all the20140722_181945 time, and I continue to say this she’s such a DIVA. But I to keep with continuity I will add one of her fiercest pictures… because if I don’t she’ll more than likely claw me in my sleep. So ladies and gentlemen I present to you Tsuki…my cat and her tutu. Now back to the polish… what can I say I love, love, loved it… maybe I’m in a good mood, maybe it’s the weather; but I’m pretty sure it’s the fab polish on my nails… this one get’s a 10 out of 10 ! I gotta go back outside and watch my nails sparkle….

Different Dimension polish can be found on etsy here. Prices range from $8.50 to $11 depending on the finish of the polish.

Until Next Time…

So I originally got this nail polish a few months back in what was part of the goodies that come in my October ipsy bag. Anytime I get nail polish in my bags it’s like a gift from the gods… and the month I got N20131203_154051eve…. I honestly put it bag in the bag and stuck it in a drawer…. I didn’t want anyone to use it (or God forbid take it) I tend to be very territorial about certain nail polishes. Zoya’s Neve is a full coverage sapphire blue metallic for the Satin Collection (2013) originally designed for Zang Toi Autumn/Winter 2013 collection and it is lovely. It has  micro shimmers in it which are not chunky and they don’t give a very glittery look to the nails.  I can see purple, blues and even some dark fuchsia colored shimmers. The finish is very metallic and gives a  high shine. This is one of the nail polishes that if you’re stingy with it, it will be stingy with you meaning… if you put on at least two good coats, you’re gonna miss all the hidden shimmer this polish has to offer… (After realizing how dull two coats looked three was the trick). This nail polish does apply smoothly and evenly but you can see a lot of brush strokes when applying this nail polish hence you need a very steady hand to apply this product . This nail polish also tends to stain the nails (which is true for most blue polishes), so I recommend using a base coat to protect your nails before applying this polish.

ddshineI don’t think that I’ve ever had a negative experience with Zoya polishes, their formula; no matter the type of polish is consistent and always looks good… three days after I initially applied this polish I am still completely in love with it. Although Zoya calls this polish blue, it really it more of a blurple . And if you have been reading my past nail polish post, you know I simply can’t leave well enough alone. So I added one of my favorite holiday themed polishes from Different Dimension’s Santa Baby Collection “Think of all the fellas I haven’t kissed.” as an accent nail. Just the right amount of “bling” to make me happy.

I don’t have a lot of complaints with this polish, so I guess I’ll keep this one short and sweet. On a scale of one to ten Neve would get a solid 8.5. I will defiantly be wearing this one again

Until next time… keep those cuticle moisturized !

Nail Polish Lottery Club – Week 20

I remember the 80’s so fondly; the clothing I could do without, but the movies and music seem so timeless to me, which is why I was totally rad that this week pick is an 80’s inspired polish from Missi Barry’s Different Dimensions. I’ve briefly mentioned Missi in a previous NPLClub post, so most of you know how much I love her polishes.. So this week was“Totally” (other polishes in the limited edition 80’s  collection include “Ditz”, “Whatever”, “Homeboy”, “Tubular and “Gnarly”)

Described as a neon with a scattered holographic effect; the closest thing I can compare them to are the A England scattered holos but that’s not even totally accurate. The biggest reason I love these, though, is that they are NEON scattered holos, and they have really awesome opacity. No layering over white required. Another great thing about these polishes is that the scattered holo pigment adds texture without greying out the base. For this polish you need 3 good coats to reach opacity, although the first two coats were a bit streaky but my final coat it’s not even noticeable.

Photographing this polish was totally frustrating indoors in looks more yellow and outdoors it looks more green

So you know me, and you know I can’t leave well enough alone, although this nail polish was fantastic, it (in my opinion) needed something more to make this feel more 80’s and I can’t top a Different Dimensions polish with jut anything, so of course I had to use another DD polish this one is “Social Suicide” from the “Mean Girls” Collection… other polishes in that collection include, “Boo, You Whore!”, “That’s So Fetch” and Wednesdays’ We Wear Pink” (don’t you just love the names?)

These beauties can be found  at the Different Dimension’s Etsy Shop  or at Llarowe along with tons of other gorgeous offerings too! Like them on Facebook for all the latest updates on collections as well!

I’m super, totally excited about seeing what everyone else’s pick are ….. (How many times did I end up saying totally?)

Until then, Stay Gold!
