Writing Prompt: A restaurant that removed your favorite item from the menu, a bad cover of a great song… Write a post about something that should’ve been left untouched, but wasn’t. Why was the original better?

I am the kind of girl that doesn’t enjoy change. I’ll except it (because I don’t have a choice) but O will bitch about it , and possibly write a strongly worded letter in the process. And one of the things where I refuse change to happen is my food. Please don’t mess with my food. Food companies are always trying to improve something and I hate it. But when it comes to food from one of my favorite restaurants it would be Kam’s Chop Suey. There is not one thing on the menu that I don’t love,  but I will tell you if they changed the way that they make Chinese Fried Chicken I would throw a fit.  Now (This is the fat girl talking) I have had lots of Chinese food, and lots of chicken, my mom has her favorite restaurant and she likes the chicken, but there is no ginger in it (I think I’s ginger), it’s not my Kam’s Chinese chicken. No one wants to hear me sing a sing in protest… but I swear if they change the way they make chicken there will be there in from with a song AND a sign…..

What I Ate Wednesday: Brown Rice and Brussels Sprouts

So clearly this is not an original thought WIAW was originated from Peas and Crayons  and a lot of other bloggers have started doing it as well; and since I can’t be original and I really like the idea of doing this… I decided to give it whirl as well. This will pretty much be a mish-mash of stuff,  some days I will try a new technique or perhaps I’ll be eating something for the first time as is the case today… and someday it might be leftover chili…who knows, and I guess that’s part of the fun. When I first started blogging it was to remain accountable with my exercise and food intake, so this is kind of takes me back… Very little of this is planned… but it’s 100% honest…I always want WIAW to be an accurate account of what I am eating. Not everyday I eat completely healthy, but more often than not I make healthy choices.

So I’m thinking about getting Blue Apron, I’ve been hearing a lot of people talk about it and I think it would be a good way for me to introduce new foods (and recipes) into my life; I was thinking that maybe I would start with maybe 1 or 2 a month and work from there, and add if I like it. If any of you have had experience using that service please let me know.. I would like to know about the variety of food, ease of service… etc.,

I was feeling a wee bit nostalgic this morning, since children are back to school I want to make something that my mom would make up on crisp fall days (doesn’t apply yet… still warm in my neck of the woods) before she sent us off to school Oatmeal, Tea and Toast (Just recently my mother and I had a conversation about why would you serve toast with oatmeal… and she said, that’s what we ate growing up, and that’s what I fed my kids…)

So this morning I did my own version of my mother’s breakfast… Blueberry Oatmeal along with Blueberry Pomegranate White Tea with a tiny bit of Agave nectar to sweeten it up. I love meal, it really is one of those meals that you can eat and feel full for a really long time.

It’s Wednesday, so you know that I’m having CHICKEN!!! The other day my mom made bacon!!! wrapped chicken lollipops. But this week I’m trying something new… brown rice and having Brussels sprouts for the third time on my life, I also had some corn on the cob, so I added that to the part…it was  a pretty interesting dinner.

My general caloric intake is 1200 calories per day, and today I was able to “earn” additional 447 calories from working out. . ! .  Although I was “allowed” 1647 calories I did excellent job today as I went over s little bit over what I feel comfortable with 1209 calories, but damn it I has some cookies… so I’ll deal!

The rule of thumb is that you are supposed to drink at least 8 and today I was able to get exactly  8cups of water

What I Ate Wednesday: Eating on the Run

My early days and the days that I am on the road are the worst because I eat when I can and not all the time is what I’m eating completely healthy. As was the case today…

Since the only shake that I had left from my Influenster sample was Chocolate (I hate Chocolate..) I had a Slim Fast shake for breakfast, not sure what was going on… maybe it was too warm outside, maybe it was just my stomach being weird, but it did not sit well on my stomach at all… I started to sweat and thought that I might see my shake again…. but it stayed down… so I gotta add that calories

WIAW Lunch

All of the sudden I hear, “I’m hungry, I need to eat or I’m gonna die” When ever you hear that stop what you’re doing and find food immediately… My mother literally saw Popeyes down the block, so we stopped for a quick lunch.

What I ordered was a 2 piece meal, which consisted of a breast, a wing, a biscuit, and a side of beans and rice with a sprite…what I ate was everything but the breast and half of the soda (which was flat Sad smile )

I was stuck in the car with noting to drink, and I couldn’t quite make it how with out dying of thirst so I popped to Starbucks and got a Shaken Iced Team Lemonade . The Iced Tea Lemonade is one of my favorite things to drink, along with the refreshers, because they are refreshing (duh) and they are low in calories

Fun Fact: When you have your own up you save $.10 and help the environment at the same time.

  I had to left over breast from lunch and bakes a potato…. nothing all that special..

But any who….  here is my caloric intake for today…. and based on the calories (let’s not even talk about the sodium) I consumed and how I feel I will be spending a LOT of time at the gym before I put on that swim suit next week

What I Ate Wednesday : Meal Replacements

This morning I tried another shake that I got from my Influenster GoVoBox (Disclosure Policy) (yesterday I had the mixed berries and today I’m drinking the French Vanilla before I head off to the gym. Yesterday I used water with the shake (as instructed) but this morning I wanted to see what it tasted like with milk, so I added 8 ounces of almond milk (which in my opinion makes everything extra tasty and smooth) and Oh my goodness it tastes so much better

Just 1/4 cup of almonds…. the perfect combination of salty and sweet, and I usually have them as an after workout snack. As evident by the empty bag (as well as the number of times these almonds have made an appearance on WIAW proves how much I like them.

Did you know that regular consumption of almonds helps to increase the level of high density lipoproteins (HDL) and they reduce the level of low density lipoproteins (LDL). This balance is vital to a healthy cholesterol level, and a reduction of LDL (bad cholesterol) is always a good thing. AND almonds are a fantastic source of many vitamins and minerals, and phosphorous is definitely counted among them! Phosphorous can have a considerable impact on the strength and durability of bones and teeth, while also preventing the onset of age-related conditions like osteoporosis…. so eat your almonds people!!!

I had a Slim fast shake from lunch, as you can tell I’m following the Slim fast schedule, a shake for breakfast and lunch along with 2 snacks and a “sensible” dinner. What the hell is a sensible dinner? especially when you are drinking fluids most of the day

My mother is always asking telling me that my food is boring, this week she was right on the money, nothing I ate was terribly exciting, but I wanted to see how well these meal replacement shakes work, and from my perspective they work really well.

What I Ate Wednesday : Food Hangover

You ever have a food hangover? I tend to get them around the holidays, or occasion when a lot of food is present… so much food is presented to me that I don’t want to eat anything!! Nothing at all…nothing seems appetizing or appealing… and I enjoy nothing! Apparently that’s what’s happening to me this week…

So for breakfast I didn’t have anything special… just waffles and honey. For some reason honey has replaced my need for syrup, I refused to buy/eat it now… But since I wasn’t filling well and I needed to take my meds I wasn’t in the mood for something heavy..DSC02763

Funny thing is my mother asked me what I had for dinner, and I told her “multigrain waffles with honey” and the look on her face was completely horrifying… so funny… she doesn’t know what’s she’s missing.

And finally a dinner that I didn’t cook.. just put on a plate… and to continue with the theme, not that special… but I did actually enjoy the salad…. chicken… not so much…I think one of the reason’s why I didn’t enjoy the chicken was because I spent more time using my paper towel to soak up the grease off the chicken than I did eating it…

Also I should point out that I didn’t really consume that many calories, the chicken that I ate was a thigh and not a breast, I changed my mind at the last minute so  a few less calories…
