Nail Polish Lottery Club – Week 26

20130629_200312First thing first, I cut my nails… I had been going back and forth over whether I wanted to trim my nails, then a super dramatic break made it almost impossible for my to patch….so I did the big chop, and I gotta say I’m loving the short(er) and sassy nails… honestly I think they look healthier and seems like the polish is looking better on my nails…no on to this weeks pick!!!

THIS WEEK’S RANDOM NUMBER IS 204

If you do not have that many polishes in your collection use 24 (or 6)

Julep’s Bunny

nplc26

Generally as a rule of thumb I do not add white or black nail polish to my list of untried, that’s for several reasons; one, I tend to purchase those colors regularly… and their primary use is for nail art or as an “undie” But this polish was different than the other white’s that I owned, and I instantly wanted it on my nails…the Julep website describes this color as “Crisp white linen with fine gold shimmer” and I instantly knew that it DSC02531was a little different from the other white polishes that I own…  take a look and see for yourself. Now when I saw the polish the motivator to wear it alone was the “fine gold shimmer” imagine my surprise when I put the polish on and I couldn’t find any visible gold shimmer…. looked at my nails at length in different type of lighting and still no gold shimmer…. must be some magic that Julep concocted because you can clearly see the shimmer on the bottle. Now I did go and search out other reviews of this nail polish because I wanted to see if there was a “user error” on my part. And it seems like this polish is hit and miss some people got shimmer, other’s said that this shimmer was clumpy and hard to separate…so who knows…

Before I go any further let me wish all who celebrated a happy belated Canada Day and Independence Day… and for those of you who didn’t I hope you had a wonderful week!! Because it was an extended holiday weekend for me I wanted to be a patriotic and do a easy and fun 4th of July Mani…4th of july and that stay on my nails from Monday till Thursday night, so when I got home from the festivities I changed my mani so that I could give a fair review of Bunny… the application was smooth, I used two coats and was happy with the look (aside from the non shimmer). The next day I was cracksat the gym and I noticed that I had developed fine cracks in the polish, I’ve never had this happen to me before, I’m not sure if it was the combination of the Julep polish formulation and the Sally Hansen Ultra Wear Top Coat.

To give you all a mental picture of the cracks (which were on 4 of 5 of my nails on each hand) where like the fine cracks that are in old china (the exposure on the photo has been adjusted so that the cracks can be seen clearly) For me, white nail polish is always a bit tricky, but I have never had this issue with white polish…… maybe it was simply band luck.

Now I had a LOT to say about this polish, because it seriously hurt my feelings (why has the last couple of pick have done this to me?!) And I did a video where I verbally expressed my feelings, maybe a bit too loud (and to prove I am currently having bad luck) The video quality was fantastic but there was no sound!!!! No Sound!!!But I will post it anyway…. it’s pretty funny actually.. As far as a rating is concerned, this one get’s 4… seriously! I got no shimmer and instead I got cracks after 114 hours of wear… 8 of which I was asleep…. this one will be added to the whites I use for nail art. Hopefully week 27 will bring me better luck!!

Until Next time…

This polish has a lot in common with last weeks pick, this polish is from the Buff to Bright Collection (also moved to the permanent  collection so it’s easy to find) and it looks amazing!

DSC02425GoGo Girl is a thick jelly red crème. Formula has a rubbery finish to it. The nail line might be visible for longer nails and require two coats (I put on 3 coats), but I left it at one with almost no nail exposed.I’m not sure how I feel about this one. It’s skirts the line between a jelly and a crème leaving me a bit undecided on how I’d actually put it to use.

It applies very very easily. For my mani I used Three coats of color because being a jelly there was still some VNL at Two coats. I’m terrible at describing Red tones but my guess is that this is a warmer toned Red. Very pin- up girl like. It’s very shiny and juicy looking. I was beyond ecstatic to see that it was a jelly because I think Red jellies are pretty much the hottest thing ever! Like I said I was inspired to go 50’s with this one because I just love the combo of Red with White polka dots, with a little bow from a stamping plate; I’m still practicing with those, it takes some patience and time to get it just right but I find it fun and almost Zen like lol. Overall, I’m loving the girliness of this mani and it makes me want to wear Red lips and a skirt.

I’m still in the process of learning to love red, it a very bold color… but I’m working on it (I’ve even started to wear red lipstick…which is a huge step for me). So here’s a quick rundownDSC02421… applications A+, consistency and color A, Staining factor… non, Compliments factor…. MANY!! This get’s a 9/10 rating from me!

FYI: I won’t be doing a video this week, I’ve got my volunteer doula day and two scheduled inductions this week…. ‘tis the life of a doula, but as always I look forward to seeing everyone else picks!!

Until next week…. stay glam!!

Unboxing the Spring VoxBox

I was actually really glad this was included in my Vox Box, oddly enough.  Only because I had run out of deodorant the day before and it now meant I didn’t have to go out and buy a new one for a while.  Anyway, I think I have found my new go to deodorant.  (Do people really have a go to deodorant?  I don’t know.)  After opening my Vox Box, I took a shower and put on this deodorant afterward.  While I was reaching to grab a shirt from my closet, I found myself thinking, “What is that BEAUTIFUL SCENT?!” only to realize after a few seconds it was, in fact, my armpits. It  has a fresh scent that is light, but noticeable. The deodorant I had

been using before always wore off throughout the day leaving me feeling self-conscious and being paranoid about the possibility of people thinking I smelled bad or had bad hygiene or something,  but Secret Outlast Clear deodorant lasts all day and it’s clear!  So no more obnoxious white marks on my clothes!  So, thank you, Secret and Influenster, for helping me smell glorious all day and eliminating the amount of clothes I own with white deodorant stains of them.

Where to Buy

You can Secret Outlast at all major retailers! Suggested retail price: $4.00

Unboxing the Spring VoxBox

716179aac7d011e2a15322000aa80445_6The imPress nails that were in my box were from the Nicole Scherzinger collection (wow, that’s a mouthful) called “Sexy Fresh” they were cute and youthful and I immediately wanted to use them, my very first thought was “wow the packaging is so cute and inventive”…. but there were 2 immediate problems when I took the nails out, one my nails are too long and my nail beds are too narrow so I wasn’t able to use them, but I gave them to my cousin who will now take over this review…

I love the imPRESS Press-on Manicure. They are so easy to apply, it takes no more than 5 minuets to apply, that’s fitting and applying together. They are perfect for everyday wear, they look so natural and you can’t even feel them. They come in an amazing variety of 36 colors and patterns so there is a set of nails for every outfit. I love that there are 24 nails in each box, that’s enough for 2 sets!! Considering this the price makes for an amazing value. I received my nails and was able to do my nails and my sisters. They lasted a little over a week so in my opinion that’s amazing considering they are press on nails. I wore my nails to school and got so many compliments, even from my teacher who is a male! He asked whether they were my real nails, he said I have very nice nails, but little did he know they were press on nails. The imPRESS nails are one of the best things invented, they are sold for a great price, they look amazing and they are so easy to apply an added bonus is the variety. They are a must have year round!!I suggest that when you apply these nails you make sure you finger nails are extremely clean and use the pad that you are given in the package.  Also, I would apply with a dot of superglue to give them that extra staying power.  Always apply a top coat as well. helps to prevent chipping, fading and peeling, that way you get a little bit more wear on them.

Where to Buy

You can find imPress Manicure at CVS, Rite Aid, Duane Reade, KMart, Walgreens, Walmart and more. For a full list of online and in-store retailers, visit imPressManicure.com, where you can download an exclusive coupon and virtually try on all the colors and patterns!

Suggested retail price: $5.99 for colors and $7.99 for patterns
