A few weeks ago Sweat Pink gave me the opportunity to try and review Manitoba Hemp Hearts, not gonna lie, I was a a little leery about trying them… I did a lot of reading on them and found the following:
- Great tasting – Hemp Hearts have a slightly nutty taste, similar to a sunflower seed or pine nut.
- Easy to use – Simply sprinkle Hemp Hearts on salad, cereal & yogurt, add to smoothies and recipes, or eat them straight from the package!
- Nutritious – per 30 gram serving, Hemp Hearts contain 10 grams of plant-based protein and 10 grams of Omegas.
- Hemp Hearts have more protein and omegas and less carbs than the same serving of chia or flax.
Still not convinced you’ll love this little super seed? Check out our hemp hearts infographic outlining a few key features of Hemp Hearts.
So enough with the reading, it was time for me to try the seeds, now the website said add them to your salad and incorporate them into your yogurt…. and that’s fine, but I seemed to like them best added a little bit to my oatmeal and my smoothies in the morning… it added a sight nutty flavor… speaking of nutty.. I recently tried the super yummy and low fat brownie recipe and added half a bag to the brownie mix and ,made Rocky Road Brownie Bites. They were the perfect addition to the brownies and the didn’t change the flavor of the brownies at all.
