Last week I wore Essie’s Marshmallow, and although I’m still super disappointed that it was my perfect polish it was still a breeze to come off.. my feelings are still hurt about this polish …so I don’t want to talk about it.

I know that these post normally come out on Tuesday’s but real life happened and post procedure pain kept me drugged up and in bed and doing my nails was the very last thing on my mind…. but I

1Bikini Bottoms, an awesome in-your-face bright magenta pink holo with a bit of blue shimmer. I’m a pink girl at heart, so of course I had to show you this beauty! I love love Bikini Bottoms. The holo in this is much better than what showed up for the photos. Did I mention I love it?I loved this, purchased it, forgot about it for months and months then found it and fell in love again. This polish looks great EVERYWHERE, in the shade, in the sunlight, in the shower…everywhere. I always gets load and loads of complements when I wear this brand of polish (and always direct them where to go when they asked where I got it)

I have been very vocal about this brand because everything is so easy, the ordering, the the quick shipments, to the application and the removal I have never had a problem with this brand. Two good even coats and your favorite top coat and your done and ready to sparkle. This particular polish looks much deeper in low light, but it’s a stunner nonetheless.

This polish is an absolute gem and I have absolutely nothing bad to say about the color what’s so ever. Bikini Bottoms get’s top scores with 10 out of 10! If you don’t own this polish, head on over the the website and get it you won’t be sorry. I will especially treasure this as ILNP is going through major redesigns as well as bottle design (and I’m excited about the new direction that Barbara is taking her company, so now really is the time if you want it in the “classic bottle with the old logo.

Tsuki, as  documented on this blog LOVES pink and she literally grabbed it and refused to let it go, she held on to it like it was her little baby, and I totally understand I nearly had a heart attack when the bottle fell on the floor, so I had to snap her as is… she wouldn’t even look me in the eye (she knew she was doing wrong)… if you look closely you can see her fuzzy pink ball that she always has with her.

Bikini Bottoms retails for $10.00.

Flavor #32

Writing Prompt: A local ice cream parlor invites you to create a new wacky flavor. It needs to channel the very essence of your personality. What’s in it?

I am a girl who loves ice cream, but I am acutely aware that it doesn’t love me back.. But finally… FINALLY I can create something that is the essence of Tyra; wait that didn’t sound right…. but you get my drift. We have to start Vanilla Bean ice cream, because it’s plain and white chocolate chips, waffled cone and caramel swirl and it would be called Sweet Surprise.

I think for the most part people see me and they tend to have an instant opinion about me (partly due to the whole resting bitchy face) and if only the dug deeper they would see that I was a lot more, and filled with surprises.

Ready, Set, Done

Writing Prompt: 10 minutes. You and your keyboard (or smartphone. Or tablet. Or pen and paper). No pauses, no edits, no looking back: it’s free-write time!

Ten Minutes on the Clock…..

I finally figured out why I don’t care for these free writes…. they remind me oh high school, we would have this notebooks and every day for 10 minutes we had to just write, many times I just wanted to sit down and write one word over and over again. We were to write whatever we wanted, no holds bared; our teacher never read what we wrote, and we would get points based on whether we wrote or not… I distinctly remember our “journals” being 20% of our overall grade. Strange how I remember that, but then I guess I have The Daily Post to thank for that.

I think one of the things that I have learned during these free write exercises is that sometimes previously repressed thoughts and emotions surface, but then again I might write total incoherent nonsense for ten minutes. It doesn’t matter. Most of us have a compulsive habit of editing as we write, resulting in a repression of thoughts and emotions we consider unacceptable or “not good enough.”

I’m gonna say this one time and one time only, I think I’m actually starting to like these things.

Until Next Time,

Avant Garde

Writing Prompt: From your musical tastes to your political views, were you ever way ahead of the rest of us, adopting the new and the emerging before everyone else?

I think that I have always been unique in that I was never a follower when it came to the things that I liked; music was never something that was off limits to me, so I went with what ever sounded good to me.

For me I think high school was a game changer to me. I was introduced to a lot of different people with different  backgrounds and different tastes in music… and I was started to listening to groups I’ve never heard before (and I’m 99% positive that I was the only person in my neighborhood listening to them. But groups like Red Hot Chilli Peppers  , Alanis Morrisette and Souxsie and the Banshee started to make their way on to my disk man. Even know I would ‘t say that I’m a music aficionado, but I my love for music goes across many genres.

But to answer your question… I was totally in love with Black Eyed Peas before Fergie joined, (when they released Behind the Front) and I was a little peeved that they had changed their sound… for a while I actually said they were selling out when they moved towards Hip Hop just for fame… but I came around and consider the group one of my favorites.

Unequal Terms

Writing Prompt: Did you know today is Blog Action Day? Join bloggers from around the world and write a post about what inequality means to you. Have you ever encountered it in your daily life?

(Don’t forget to tag your post with “Inequality” — or #inequality on Twitter — so that other participants might find it.)

“Can you name one of the most destructive attitudes that is pervasive throughout our culture? It works to unravel the very fabric that unites each and every one of us.  How much of an ego must you have to believe that the rights of one person outweigh those of another?  Inequality is a cancer that our country and the world has fought against from the beginning of time.  Yet to this day, we still see people being treated as second class citizens.” (source)

It wasn’t very long that someone like me, (a black woman) would have not been seen as an equal to my white male counterparts, I always grew up to believe that no matter what our differences are we are all equal. I believe 100% that men and women are and should be equal. I deliberately use the word ‘should’ as I also recognize that even in today’s day and age this is not the case, especially in developing countries.

Yet, despite many successes in empowering women, numerous issues still exist in all areas of life, ranging from the cultural, political to the economic. For example, women often work more than men, yet are paid less; gender discrimination affects girls and women throughout their lifetime; and women and girls are often are the ones that suffer the most poverty, and we are still considered the inferior sex.

  • Discrimination against women and girls often begins at conception, especially in parts of India and South Asia.
  • The rate of femicide (murder of women and girls) has significantly escalated over the last few years.
  • “Dowry deaths” are responsible for the murders of thousands of women every year, especially in South Asia
  • “Honor killings” continue to take place in Pakistan, Turkey, Jordan, Syria, Egypt, Lebanon, Iran, Yemen, Morocco and other Mediterranean and Gulf Countries
  • Physical and sexual abuse of girls is a serious concern across all regions.
  • Female genital cutting/mutilation (FGC/M) causes serious injury to millions of young women every year
  • Child marriage continues to put young girls at great risk for too-early pregnancy and other sexual and reproductive health issues

This is only a small portion of the inequalities and abuses forced upon women.

In the end, inequality is a complicated term. It can be applied to so many factors, I ‘m not sure, even at my age that I’m able to put into words what equality is. but I see it every single day. I see it when I talking to an over worked and under-paid single mom who is struggling to make ends meet even though she working a full time job, it’s glaringly obvious when I’m driving my car and a homeless man is on the street begging for money. This is an issue that we have a part in, yet we continue to ignore… until it’s in our face, I think I may actually be an opposite of most people where I can recognize it every single time I walk out my door.

This topic is way to heavy for one blog post…but these are my thoughts.
