Reader’s Block

Writing Prompt: What’s the longest you’ve ever gone without reading a book (since learning how to read, of course)? Which book was it that helped break the dry spell?

I got my love of reading from my mother, I love the idea of slipping into a different world, learning new things, and just having some time to yourself. Even know I am reading some sort of story every single day… it’s a requirement… I don’t feel write if I’m not reading. The last time I had “reader’s block” was the three months leading and the month after my second liver transplant. I was horrible sick as you can imagine and the ammonia levels in my blood were sky high, so I literally stopped eating, I was always sleeping, and when I was awake I was totally confused and irritable because it was like I was surrounded in cotton and it took me a long time to process the things that people said to me (and I was also losing memories). So reading was frustrating and when I was able to grasp what I was reading I was already back to sleep (then I would forget what I wrote and have to start all over again the next day)

When I started regain my health, my doctor suggested that I start reading and playing games that stimulate the mind … and at first I started off with random Harlequin romances that I found at the library… but then I found a book from one of the authors I enjoy called The Royal Treatment… it was the perfect book, not to big and it didn’t require me to do too much thinking, I quickly finished the book in about 4 days and got one Amazon before I as finished to order the other books in the series…. it was the perfect book to remind me of my love of reading… and for that reason alone it will remain one of my favorites.

Until Next Time….

Please invite your blog readers to add their links here too so everyone has to opportunity to be seen. The idea is to connect with other awesome bloggers so take a moment to read and comment on a couple of other posts. Sarah is always looking for people to contribute questions or themes… if you some topic/question suggestions for FMM, please email your ideas to Sarah at…So let’s get started

I’ve done “flashbacks” before and that usually happens when the FMM is taking a break… but this Monday as this blog is being posted I will be in the hospital having my 26th liver biopsy. So next weeks FMM will be a double one. I thought that it would be fun to take a look back and see  on of my very first Friend Makin’ Monday’s. I started doing this because one of the bloggers that I followed was doing it and after reading her answers I decided to get in the fun myself. Original answers will be posted in black while the current answers will be in blue.  This blog was originally post on August 27, 2012

After reading on of my favorite blogs Bella on the Beach, who participates in FMM(Friend Making Monday) faithfully I decided to take the plug and do it as well! (and 2 years later I’m still at it!…. as those you who follow me and FMM know that It initially started at All The Weigh and it now hosted at Losing Weight and Having Funtandy

PC or Mac?  I have always had a PC. I would love to own a Mac, and I always say that when I grow up I’ll get one… right now it’s simply a money thing… they are simply out of my price range (3 years later  I’m would like to have a mac, but it’s not something that I need at the moment, I have a lot of other things that are a priority at the moment.)

When did you get your first computer? The very first computer we had as a family was a Tandy computer. I didn’t own my first computer until I went right before I went off to school.

Do you use cable, DSL or something else?  I have cable internet.  And our home is connected wirelessly. I find myself annoyed when I go to other people’s houses and they don’t have a wireless connection. I finally talked my parents into it…. (Still the same, except now they have conveniently forgotten the password and I can’t access the internet …boo!)

When choosing a laptop, do you think it’s more important to choose the fastest one, or the lightest one? Weight never comes into consideration, because I rarely lug my laptop around. I always look for something that has the specific requirements that I need…also something that’s gonna be sturdy (It’s gotta be sturdy and size matters, I would prefer something small, something that isn’t as big to lug around… my aptop has a 17 inch screen. it was a pain in the butt trying to find a case for this monster).

IMG_20141009_210209What kind of cell phone do you own?  I like my phone; it does what it needs to. I’m currently using a Samsung Gravity Smart. But I would trade this sucker in a heartbeat if T-Mobile had iPhones’.  But alas T-Mobile and Apple have yet to come up with an agreement (Oddly enough Apple and T-Mobile came up with an agreement and I still didn’t get a iPhone, I like Android based phones and will continue to use them…. ironically enough I still have that Gravity Smart and it’s next to the phone I currently have the Galaxy 5… remember when phones start getting smaller, what the heck is with the trend of them getting bigger again)

How do you carry your laptop when you travel? I still don’t have a case, my newest laptop is a behemoth at 17.4 inches and it can’t fit in any of my bags.. and just yesterday I needed to take it to a meeting so I warped her up in an old sweatshirt… nice and cozy (but ghetto) (I have one now…. no longer using the ghetto method)

How many e-mails do you send on an average day? I’m not sure, but I do know that I receive more emails that I send. (honestly I send emails to myself more than sending emails to other people…. but I still get more emails that I send)

Do you ever blog using your iPad or similar tablet? Nope, seems too cumbersome for me…I want until I’m near a computer (I’m using my Kindle, my phone, and my laptop… lots of times I’m using two at the same time…)

What do you use more often – a desktop or a laptop? I use a combination of the two, but I typically use my laptop more often. (I’m 100% laptop, unless I’m at my mom’s house, then it’s desktop)

As a blogger, are there other gadgets that you need to get the job done?  If so, what are they?  My camera and my cellphone I like to add pictures (I think they make the blog more personable)…( Yep pretty much the same)

As my Greek friends would say…

.Μέχρι την επόμενη φορά…
