The Internet is Celebrating a Sex Crime

blonder than fiction

This past weekend, Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton, Ariana Grande, and several others fell victim to an iCloud hack that led to hundreds of their personal photos to be leaked onto the internet for all to see. The photos that caught everyone’s attention? The nude photos these women took in the privacy of their own homes. The photos spread across the internet like wildfire and soon millions got a good look at them.
I didn’t initially understand what was happening until someone had retweeted a photo-set onto my newsfeed. I was confused as to why someone had decided to share naked photos of a woman in the first place, but it wasn’t until I clicked on them did I realize the Oscar-winning actress’s beautiful, familiar face. I contemplated the authenticity of the pictures – with photo-shop, pretty much anything is possible – and then scrolled up. More pictures. More tweets. They…

Stop Blaming the Victim!

Kevin Card

*Trigger warning for discussions of Feminism, rape, pornography, and victim blaming*

So nude celebrity photos were leaked to the internet and Cee Lo Green made comments about date rape before deleting his Twitter? Well then, September is already off to an incredibly screwy start.

For those who haven’t guessed by now, I’m a Liberal Feminist from Massachusetts who is easily pissed off by ignorant and hateful statements. Ignorance is in the eye of the beholder (much like beauty), so I’m not ranting about Conservatives here. What I am ranting about is how people always to pit blame on the victim in our culture. For example: “How much was she drinking that night before she passed out? Well, she shouldn’t have worn that dress!” Or what I’ve been reading lately, “Jennifer Lawrence should have known better than upload those photos to iCloud!”

The action of any crime is always the fault…

20140812_152136Birefringence is the optical property of a material having a refractive index that depends on the polarization and propagation direction of light…. and that’s exactly what happens when you wear this nail polish. Birefringence shifts through an array of incredible blues, purples, reds, oranges, yellows, and even subtle greens. I was excited when I ordered this polish, I was super excited when it arrived in the mail…and I was nearly in tears when I wore it… you have no idea I was like a kid hopped up on sugar.

This nail polish is part of ILNP’s “Ultra Chrome” class of chromatic nail polishes; formulated to apply directly to the nail without the need for a imagebase color, which makes it a time saver with maximum lookage (YES, I realize that its not a word…. but you know exactly what I mean…)

The consistency and quality of the polish is beyond  amazing, it spreads like butter on my nails, which shocked me because I thought that the polish would be a little difficult to apply considering it’s a chrome. I was also concerned about the nail polish showing imperfections in the nail (which I sometimes have to deal with  using chromes and metallic) I didn’t have to worry about that either. And don’t worry if you think color would be like it is in the picture of the bottle, but the intensity of the color flip is closer to the picture of the polish on nails. Under most lights it will be a purple/blue but at certain angles and under certain lights you start to see an orange/red/green shine.

I got TONS of compliments on my nails when I wore this. I was at the casino and one of the slo20140810_231131t hosts stopped me and asked to look at my nails. We talked for about 30 minutes and nails and nail polish, I needed up giving her the name of the polish and the website so she can see the polish and the others in the collections… I’m sure she’s not a big fan just like I am. It took me a  long time to buy this nail polish due to the price (you how I feel about being something over $10) but at $12.50 I think this was more than worth the money.  Not only did this nail polish look great, but it lasts for a long time, (I had it on my nails and toes) and I had no issue with chipping at all (which tends to be the norm for these types of polishes).

As soon as I sat this nail polish on the bed Tsuki wouldn’t stop playing with it I want to say that she was in a playful mood (but she’s always like that ) I think that she might have seen some of the color shifts and thought that it was a toy. She wouldn’t let me take it from her…maybe it’s me but she’s got paranoid eyes in this picture and she literally took a nap with the picture. She’s like me, she knows a good thing when she sees it.  And because we loved this nail polish so much Birefringence get’s a perfect 10 out of 10. If you’re looking to step out of the box without going super crazy this is the perfect nail polish for you… I would recommend this polish to EVERYONE. (I wonder how many sassy boys own this?…. that’s another post for another day!)

Nightmare Job

Writing

Writing Prompt: In honor of Labor Day in North America, tell us what’s the one job you could never imagine yourself doing.

As a person who has had a variety of jobs and all different play levels. I will say that working fast food is a tough job, the reason that I bring this up because you often hear people giving crap to fast food workers saying how they don’t deserve a minimum wage pay increase, or it doesn’t require smarts to do that job… the thing is it’s a job that requires you to constantly multitask in an high stress environment., where you deal with the public and have to keep your cool… now think about this a school teacher would probably vaguely describe her job the same way… so why does one profession deserve more respect than another. People need to learn how to shut their mouth and tuck in their egos.

Now to answer the question….I don’t think that I could even be a trash collector…. simply based on the ick factor… but yet again this is the type of job that require a certain amount of skill. I occasionally see the men who collect my trash and I often speak and say hello… and honestly they always seem upbeat and happy…

Now I did a little bit of research…depending on where you live and if you live in a “right to work” state
(which Illinois is not) you can make between 43,000 – 60,000 dollars a year…. That’s not bad and a totally respectable living for someone who’s dealing with the trash… think about that the next time you see a garbage truck.

Until Next Time….
